I write books. They might not be your sort of thing but maybe you know someone who’d like them. They’re about middle-aged people falling in love.

I also work on other people’s books. The one on the right I am particularly proud of.

I post about writing, editing, and rocks, amongst other stuff.
Another forty minutes on the phone to BT and LET'S FACE IT no closer to having full fibre. In fact I think it's further away. Now exhausted. And irritable.

Le Grand Menhir Brisé in Locmariaquer (Morbihan) when intact would have stood 20m tall and weighed an estimated 300 tons. The 4 fragments laid in a row are very impressive but its true immensity is only realised when you look at the cross section of the lowest fragment.

Archaeologists or historians in Berlin, is this dig in the Innenstadt Park? I was way too nervous about how high up I was to get my bearings. But snapped this dig – close to the Berliner Dom on the opposite bank of the Spree.

Poulnabrone • The Burren

Situated in the heart of the Burren, Poulnabrone is one of Ireland's earliest dated megalithic tombs.

During excavations, the co-mingled remains of at least 36 individuals were recovered from the tomb chamber, largely dating from c.3800–3200 BC.

Sorting through some old photos I found this, which I am always as startled to see as I was when we actually saw it.

(On the way to the Dursey Island cable car in Co Cork. I don't know if it's still there. Let's hope not.)

Every time Academia recommend the @jimleary.bsky.social paper about the Marlborough Mound it makes me laugh. This is because a) I read it like eight years ago, the first time they recommended it b) they recommend it approx. five times a month. Are they in the pay of Big (artificial) Mound or what.

Cashelkeelty East stone circle, nr #Lauragh #CountyKerry #RepublicofIreland (2008)

It's quite a climb up here, through the dark damp woods, but well worth it.

OK. All done. Pedants? I'm not interested, this is MY Doctors.
If you are interested in an A2 print I've decided to knock the price down so that it's £60 plus postage (assuming I get enough interest to make it worth my while)
Let me know here or in DMs if you are interested. Probably print 10.

Ooh user error, mate.
Nothing disappoints harder than a stone circle. The way people bang on about them you'd think they would be at least an interesting experience, preferably an emotional one. They're neither.

Just had one of those spammy 'Love your book! Pay us to do... something!' emails.

Favourite line: "Is The Beginning of Everything on Goodreads?"

'Julie', your inability to do even extremely cursory research would be enough to make me doubt your marketing skills even if I wasn't already suspicious.

People of London! PLEASE SHARE. I lost my necklace last night (10th Nov), and I'm hoping someone has found it. I caught the Northern Line from High Barnet to Leicester Square, then walked to the Prince Charles Cinema, then the same back again. I only noticed it was gone when I got home.
