There's been a crust of ice over things in the "yarden" today, despite the bright sunshine. But the plants are quietly enduring the cold.

Happy Valentines Day to all.

Single, married, divorced, widowed, whatever, may your day bring you all the love you deserve.

My current batch of ceramic goodies are all fettled and slowly drying ready for bisque firing.
This is a very mixed board- kingfishers, standard bird profiles, puffins and a couple of stray sheep! Just another stage one of the long making process. crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com/collections/...

It's always a joy to see the first snowdrops pushing through undergrowth, even snow. Their bright white petals shine against winter’s tangle. Delicate yet determined, they pierce cold earth and emerge luminous, a quiet reminder that Spring is coming. crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com/products/sno...

This painting of snow on Corby Crags has SOLD today. It's off to a loving local home.
I remember that snowy walk SO vividly.

I loved capturing the textures of the snow, the different vegetation and the patchwork fields in the distance.

This unremittingly grey grisly weather is bad enough. But when your only correspondence is an ad for cremation, that's just the mouldy old cherry on top....

Today, I fettled this board of ceramic birds. Once dry, they'll be bisque fired. Then, when cool, they'll be painted with underglaze colours and glaze fired. They're a labour intensive make. Available in my shop crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com

I've potted up two new amaryllis bulbs today. This grey weather calls for colour!

Yesterday evening, as usual, I asked Google what the weather was going to be today. "Light rain"
Sunday? "Light rain"
Monday? "Light rain"
Tuesday? "Light rain"
Wednesday? "Light rain"
Thursday? "Showers"....... I think she just got bored repeating the same answer.

And here we are again... yet another grey, misty, moisty morning in Rothbury.
It really is dismal out there. Inside Crown Studio Gallery I've got my daylight lamp at full beam and paintings full of light and colour to enjoy.
But still, come on sun, get a grip!! This is tedious. #February

Fields of poppies are becoming a rarity. Places where they once held their scarlet heads high are now housing estates. They are pushed to field edges with other meadow flowers, planted to help pollinators. I know homes are needed, but it is still sad to watch a favourite flower quietly disappear.

Today's a day for signing, mounting and bagging prints.

The light isn't suitable for painting today. Even with "daylight" overhead lighting and a "daylight" lamp, the ambient light remains too cold and blue for painting anything other than snow. #Rothbury #Northumberland #Artist #challenge

If you're anything like me, you're sick of grey skies, foggy vistas and unremitting rain. My escape is to soak in the sunshine in my paintings. Give it a try! If you're in Rothbury come to Crown Studio Gallery. If not see crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com Coast, castles, countryside, puffins and more

The walk to Thrum Mill is such a popular one that I expected this painting would be sold to someone locally.
But no. It's off to its permanent new home in Scotland. crownstudiogallery.myshopify.com/.../walking-....
But its "sister" painting (attached pic) is still available and just as evocative.

Today it did not rain in Rothbury. So @pottedhistory.bsky.social and I repotted the wisteria. It feels like a milestone, because it's needed doing for 3yrs, but he's been too ill each year during that window of opportunity- pneumonia, flu, then cancer. So it's great that he's fit and strong now.
