An inspiring paper by the group of Jacob Geri in Analytical Chemistry. They present a method for residue-specific #chemoproteomics without the need for an enrichment step. To achieve this, they developed reagents that shift the ion mobility for gas phase separation. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....
Gas Phase Separation of Modified Peptides for Activity-Based Protein Profiling

PNGaseL from Flavobacterium akiainvivens targets a diverse range of N-glycan structures
PNGases are used by a wide range of organisms to remove N-glycan structures from proteins for use as either nutrients or in glycoprotein processing. PNGaseF is the most well-characterised enzyme of th...

If u ever had to depict proteins as schematics in papers, u know the dilemma: how to create a pretty “blob”?
If structure ends up big & central, u’ll render it with PyMol et al, but for a truly schematic depiction u want a biorender-style icon, but for YOUR protein.
Think I’ve finally found a way.

Bad news — the effective freeze at the NIH’s Center for Scientific Review hits a major chemical biology study section. Not good. @jeremymberg.bsky.social
🚨 Chemical Biology & Probes study section (formerly SBCB, one of two NIH panels that reviews chemistry #chemsky 🧪) was abruptly POSTPONED w/no specific plans for rescheduling, less than 24h before start.
