New, from me: The Trump administration is killing Direct File, the free IRS e-filing tool.
Users love it, and it creates incredible value for the public.

It's the clearest sign that DOGE wants a government that serves private and not public interests. 🧵

Yeah like this just forces each person who has a common problem to ask the same question fresh every time and get it individually answered every time which seems like the exact kind of inefficient sisyphean torment that UX designers spend years trying to prevent
a discord is not a forum. I don't want to join your product's community; I want to read the solution to my technical problem from two posters who worked it out 4 years ago

Rumeysa Ozturk was kidnapped in plain sight & sent to Louisiana to be locked in the same detention center Mahmoud Khalil was sent to.

She's a peaceful protestor, grad student, & my constituent who has a right to free speech & due process.

Now she's a political prisoner. Free her now.

There is no legitimate point, none, to grabbing someone non-violent, no criminal accusations, who doesn't even know their visa was just revoked, and locking them up halfway across the country as the very first step. Also much more expensive than just telling them to leave first.
The Tufts graduate student detained by federal authorities in Somerville has been sent to a Louisiana detention facility, despite a federal judge’s order telling US Immigration and Customs Enforcement not to remove her from Massachusetts without notice.

"The first guest on Gavin Newsom's podcast was Charlie Kirk" is more than enough for me to say "absolutely not" to any suggestion Newsom play any role in the future of the Democratic Party. People like him are the past, the failures, the ones who got us here.

Quite hard to describe massive cuts at Social Security Admin plus cancelling (without explanation) the flu vaccine committee meeting as anything other than an intentional financial, physical, and psychological attack on everyone over 65 years old.

SSA employee to me re: 50% staff reduction: "Can say unequivocally that such deep cuts to SSA, which is already at historically low staffing, will cause significant to extreme degradation of services, very likely including checks missed and individuals dying before their claims can be processed."

ridiculous scenarios going forward

1) Elon falls out with Trump, starts calling for 25A removal, and libs fall in love with him

2) GOP candidate loses election in 4 years, Trump exit-pardons DOGE staff, citing Biden exit pardon of own family

This should be 25th amendment level conduct. The president ordered water to be released from a random dam in California nowhere near the wildfires and then claimed it would help. That’s literally Mad King behavior.

There is no good music streaming platform but spotify is absolutely the most evil one and also has the distinction of sounding the shittiest
Spotify is gaming its own editorial playlists with tons of music it hires a small number of people to make for very little money and a severely limited license. Spotify doesn't care about artists, quite the opposite.
“What I uncovered was an elaborate internal program”: Is Spotify creating fake artists to flood its editorial playlists?
A new book sheds light on the alarming rise of dubious real 'artists' peppering Spotify's curated playlists

So one of the reasons South Korea is a healthier democracy is that it’s a relatively homogeneous country and racism can’t be used as an effective tactic for attacking democracy. The psychological wages of whiteness in the US are a key reason authoritarian attacks on democracy in the US succeed
South Korea is an healthier democracy than some other powerful old democracies.

That actions have consequences, even for the most powerful, is truly the basis. The minimum for a democracy.
