"Who wants it more?" is by no means the only question, but it is a fundamental one.
I'd rather die than live under their boot. No doubt many of them are willing to kill in order to put us there, but how many of them would be willing to die to do it?

I've driven through this place hundreds of times, but for the rest of my life I won't be able to pass without remembering the words of this contemptible asshole Republican county chairman: "We’re not going to sell out our birthright for a bean burrito."

My sensibilities are pretty tenderhearted towards small animals even though I work on a farm, but I have to admit it is regrettably very amusing sometimes what mean little shits cats can be. Shaking my head the whole time so everyone knows I disagree etc.
I think we sometimes really have trouble understanding how little shit there was to do prior to like 1950, watching a cat fuck with mice would have been in like the 90th percentile for amusement for much of history

Yes! I've considered this a possibility since reading 13th century monk Bartholomaeus Anglicus' description of cats. He's clearly amused by their behavior, as no doubt humans at the time of domestication were. The entertainment value is not entirely separate from their usefulness as mousers,
one of the funniest things about cats is that its really increasingly clear that their entertainment value is a big part of their domestication
yeah they watched the cat linkedin webinar

we've given out the $2000 checks in the form of hawking radiation. over the next trillion years you will be able to reconstruct the checks by observing the hawking radiation spectrum outside of the blackhole where the East Wing used to be

Covid looms large in our memories, but resentment over the GFC is underrated as a driver of our politics. So many lives upended. I reconnected with a school buddy recently and he told me about Citibank foreclosing on his family's house. They all are quite naturally still angry about it to this day.
If you don't channel that resentment somebody else is going to. Anecdotally I know several Ohio Obama voters who were angry and disillusioned that heads didn't roll for the GFC (and to a lesser extent Iraq etc.) who became Stein, Trump or nonvoters.

All else aside, it's utterly absurd that our system gives so much power to some chucklefuck Senator from Wyoming, a state with under 600k people. I should never have to know the name of anyone from that state. I should never see them on the news. They should be completely nationally irrelevant.
WELKER: Four months ago the DOJ said there was nothing to investigate and then hours after Trump called for an investigation, Pam Bondi said she was opening an investigation. Is that appropriate?

BARRASSO: I think there's a lot more important things to talk about right now

The rambling proclamations of a mad king with the power to end all life on earth sandwiched between ads for scam bedding and Liberty Catheters.
The really shitty, ubiquitous ads on truth social really make it all a bit surreal

4. strange new distributed consensuses form
