even at the time, Mark Twain was roasting this kind of airless romanticization of aristocracy in the South as "the sillinesses and emptinesses, sham grandeurs, sham gauds, and sham chivalries of a brainless and worthless long-vanished society"
Quick question: Are people insane?

BREAKING: ICE deported a Burmese man who doesn’t speak English to South Sudan—a country he’s not from and on the brink of civil war. He refused to sign English-only papers.

They deported him anyway—with 11 others. No hearings. No translators. Court order ignored. This is state-sponsored kidnapping.

The interesting thing is that according to our own Justice Department, MS-13 began restricting tattoos (c. 2015) on its members precisely bc law enforcement was using them to ID them. Members have to get permission, which means fewer people would have them over last decade

Now what?
JUST IN: The Trump administration says it has "no updates" for Judge Xinis about efforts to facilitate return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Reiterates that a judge in 2019 viewed him as a member of MS-13.

👀 NEW at the IRS: The Trump admin is gaining power over criminal tax investigations -- the first time that's happened since Nixon.

Trump installed an Hunter Biden "whistleblower" as deputy of the criminal division.

Gary Shapley has told confidants he expects to soon be in charge.

The Trump administration has placed a political appointee in charge of tax investigations, in a break with longtime precedent.

Distribution of pamphlets has been illegal in other countries before now. Nazi Germany, USSR, China, North Korea, Iran, etc.
Allina Habba says foreign students are not allowed to "hand out pamphlets in our country and try to infiltrate those terroristic thoughts ... and if you bring that into our country, you can get the hell out."

Trans women were some of the most influential activists behind the Stonewall movement and what followed.
