This and withdrawing from Afghanistan we’re inarguably in the top 5 best things the Biden administration did. Too bad he squandered that by going to bat for an apartheid state that was very publicly murdering children every day on our dime
Biden basically ended the drone war.

It is better to have imperfect Democrats at the controls of the American war machine than bloodthirsty Republicans who will use it to open a network of secret torture prisons or extra-judicially murder central American fishermen.
Biden nearly ended the drone war, and nobody noticed
Why is the White House so silent about this significant achievement?

Incredible how many people just assume Brandon Johnson is a DSA member. If I were UWF and UWF was a serious organization I’d be a little offended

Property taxes are high in Illinois because we a) collect the same total amount regardless of valuations (do not use the millage system), b) refuse to develop a plan that would take care of pensions and c) have a constitutional requirement to pay pensions earned.

pretty sure i wont be disappointed in anyone in these files at all but im different
I want to lay down a few markers here for folks as the clock starts ticking down to the release of the Epstein Files.

1) You are going to learn about a lot more disgusting and sickening things people said, joked about and maybe even did. You will likely be disappointed in someone you had admired

And now a bunch of my coworkers are getting laid off
The White House just blasted this out under the headline "Good News You May Have Missed"

It really is annoying when urbanist style individuals present tweaks to the zoning code as the skeleton key to fixing all of America’s problems. Mirror image to the annoying Instagram “leftist” sharing stuff about how capitalism hinges on stuff like our relationship with Israel
Part of why I get really annoyed at YIMBYs claiming that non-SFH is illegal to build everywhere is that WE VERY FAMOUSLY ABOLISHED SFH ZONING IN MINNEAPOLIS.

And you know what happened? We got some new apartment construction, and it was good, but it definitely didn’t transform the metro.

We want more immigrants, just not THOSE ones
Obviously, we want more immigrants, it’s one of our founding principals, but we also don’t want things to happen that will set support for more immigration back in the long term

All that said, Twitter only allows editing in the 1st hour, so not easily done.

Side note: when my local IPO, which has a similar structure and similar dynamics, deliberates endorsements for the March primary, I hope people understand that fighting an uphill battle will net us very very little unless we pull someone across the finish line
The people who are converted into members that way they’re usually already activists who have multiple political affiliations. But that doesn’t describe the majority of people we target as potential members, or even a majority of our membership base. Growing the org means winning, unfortunately

It’s really not my business whether NYC DSA endorses a challenge against Jeffries; not my chapter, not my city, not my business. But I saw someone float the argument that helping a candidate expands the orgs membership base even if they lose. I don’t think that’s true.

3) Joe Biden is not too old to be President*

*this controversial idea was discarded in July of 2024
Some controversial ideas of mine:

1. It’s better to say things voters agree with than things they disagree with

2. When in office, it’s important to try to do a good job of governing

the real thing that people are addicted to is the idea that there are no legitimately difficult choices. nothing has a downside. you don't have to pay for anything. the only reason that anything bad happens is that someone intended it.
they tend to alternate the two like whack-a-mole. someone is a product of the system, then they always had a choice and they are evil because of that. you see this similarly with mental illness. mental illness is real when you want it to be, "schizophenia doesn't make you bad" when you don't want it
