Thinking a lot about Perfect Victims and the rush to affirm the Somali communities of Minnesota as worthy by virtue of hard work etc (mostly hard work.) I understand it but as always, leaving room for criminalization is the way we got here in the first place.

I think the reason romantasy is dwarfing sales of fantasy & sci-fi is that it's a subset of romance.
And romance is the biggest, most profitable category in literature.
Romantasy allowed romance readers, who read very widely, to take cross-genre romance mainstream & it's reaping the rewards.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
