I catch copy errors literally every day in major news outlets — today in CNN, probably multiple times a week in New York Times, on and on. media companies, you already aren’t paying for enough copy editors, and whatever you’re leaving to AI is not catching this stuff! pls get it together!

I think a lot of short-sighted newspaper editors think they can backfill laid-off arts critics + reporters with wire. But what happens when the wire coverage doesn’t exist anymore? WaPo is a big distributor of this type of work and they just decimated their arts dept.
