This really needs to be stressed, as it seems obvious Trump is going to let them vote to release it and then pretend his hands are tied.

He’s had the power to release them all along, and still does. It’s just his excuses that are changing.
The second paragraph of every article about Trump freeing House Republicans to vote to release the Epstein files should make it clear that he could order them released himself and chooses not to.

Child care is not a “goodie.” Child care is a necessity.

You never see editorial boards calling highways or police forces “goodies.” Why? Smells like misogyny to me!
this is a rich (ha) text but I'm especially losing my mind at "she seeks to force residents of Seattle to pay for “free” child care and other goodies"

like man, a person thought up that sentence and allowed it to leave their brain? and other people allowed it to go to print?
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate
This whole NYT account about the weaponization of DOJ is beyond disturbing. Kinda feels like the US government fell in January.

One thing that's abundantly clear: passing the SAFE Research Act would permanently end the United States' ability to be competitive in any area of advanced technology. Just straight up suicidal policy-making.
This has gotten surprisingly little attention — it's not even on the front page of @science.org right now — but it's really hard to describe what the SAFE Research Act would do to US science and scientists without sounding insane

According to the car wash owner, agents arrested employees before they could obtain their documentation from their work lockers. So many were likely here legally.

Here's hoping this article on Zac boasting about how he ruined some immigrants' lives follows him around for a very long time.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Doing this even after this past Election Day and how the public thinks the shutdown is Republican’s fault (because it is).

Political malpractice.

It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.
