Just going to pin these 2 graphs until the Republican Party reconciles itself with democracy.

I know, I’m going to wait for a long while
The @nytimes.com will not even publish a word about how Trump is *directly*—emphasis on directly—regurgitating the Kremlin’s narrative almost verbatim.

I only heard Vladimir Solovyov and Olga Skabeyeva unashamedly repeat Putin’s talking-point verbatim.
Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

The Trump administration, FEMA, is refusing to process buyouts for mortgages on homes destroyed by Hurricane Helene’s in NC. All of these homes are no longer livable since the storm.

If this happened under a Democratic administration, FOXNews, & most media, would be “Democrats hate rural America”
Hundreds of residents signed up for FEMA buyouts after Helene. Not one has been approved. — The Washington Post
More than a year after applying for a federal buyout, many North Carolina homeowners have heard almost nothing definitive.

Again, sure, but it was neither the president’s nor the AG’s job to do the Senate’s job for it. It all should have been over in February 2021, & the people everyone is actually angry at are all Republican Senators. Total failure of Article I of the Constitution. Presidentialism was a grave mistake.

Surrendering territories to Putin should be the red line.

On top of being insulting to Ukrainians’ sacrifice & honor, surrendering territories to an invader is an extremely dangerous precedent to set.
Reuters: The talks in Florida between Zelenskyy and Trump will face major friction. Kyiv rejects demands to surrender Donbas or Zaporizhzhia NPP, while Russia keeps pushing maximalist terms. Ukraine’s 20 point plan is 90% ready, but territory remains the red line

It’s amazing how America’s extreme right & conservatives are deeply ignorant of America’s past & culture.

Plato argued in the Republic that the 'tyrant,' or someone with unlimited wealth and power, would live the worst possible life because his soul would be devoured by lawless, unlimited desires that could never be sated. I think we've gotten confirmation of this from more cases than Trump lately
I always thought Plato was pretty pollyannaish on this point, but this is decent evidence for the view that a man of bad character will therefore be unhappy even with every external trapping of success and good fortune.

The corruption of this administration is blinding.
GOP operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, convicted election fraudsters, were paid $960,000 in the second quarter to secure a pardon for a former nursing-home operator who defrauded the government of $38 million. Trump pardoned the man, Joseph Schwartz, last month.

Also, IS in Nigeria represents no national security threat whatsoever against the US. They have no projection capabilities, & the analysts in the CIA & DNI know that extremely well.

Having said that, way to ruin Christmas, you as*h*le!
Also, Trump violating Nigeria’s sovereignty to strike IS in Nigeria is a pure wage the dog operation.

He’s trying to appease the crazy evangelical wing of his base because they might desert him because of the revelations in the Epstein files.
Nigeria is not a failed state. It is a founding member of ECOWAS, for God’s sake.

There is no domestic security problem in Nigeria that Nigeria cannot solve. Do they need help or cooperation with a big power? Yes. But conducting strikes on them like this is an utter violation of their sovereignty.

This is going to generate more diplomatic tensions (than there already are), & a whole lot of debate about colonialism in general.

Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

Trump: "I called up the heads of the countries. As an example, France, I spoke to a very good man -- President Macron of France. And I said 'Emmanuel, you have to raise your drug prices.' He said, 'No no no, we will not do that.' I said, 'You have to.'"

Weiss concluded: “We need to be able to make every effort to get the principals on the record and on camera. To me, our viewers come first, not a listing schedule or anything else. And that is my North Star, and I hope it's the North Star of every person in this newsroom.”

She’s a zealot & an extremist, & as well extremists, she’s bad at assessing risk.
