My Jewish therapist told me that there's a saying in her family, "Well, someone's trying to kill us again. Time to eat." Historically marginalized groups find joy where they can. Community, family, food, art etc.
White poeple should pay attention to how Black culture responds to threats. Black people are not under any illusion we're not in danger. But Black people are still engaging in joy & clowning around. Not instead of fighting but as part of it.

Definitely a good idea to send Costco positive feedback for their DEI commitments, but also bear in mind that their union has voted to authorize a strike that may start as soon as 2/1. If you’re going to call, ask them to give the Teamsters everything they’re asking for, too!
