When getting wipies at DollarTree today (our neighbors have the flu so we're taking extra precautions!), Stiffler found little pink rose string lights for Valentine's, so now our hallway door is decked out even harder. 🌹

I'm very glad we got coats (with hoods) yesterday but also my autistic capacity for wearing a thick coat when it's not cold (indoors, while driving, etc) is at negative 5. This is partly why I wore a hoodie growing up in Alaska instead of a proper puffy jacket...

I keep catching strays from "technology is neutral" people, so let's set things straight.

1) Technology is not neutral, especially the subset of technology called "algorithms"
2) The form-factor that makes a technology into a tool is not neutral
3) How tools are productized is not neutral

Well that’s a way to massively fuck with vote by mail
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

Art v artist 2025. I feel like I was slacking this year, probably because I did a lot more writing than drawing. But I did launch a new webcomic, so that's pretty cool I think!

One of our friends invited us to a remote cabin for New Years so I'm guessing we may be murdered but it has a fireplace, so we're going anyway.

It's incredibly windy here and while walking down the street this morning, a dried hydrangea flowerhead bounced in front of me the entire way, uphill, for over 15 minutes. When I left it there on the cold sidewalk, I felt a little sad, but when I looked back it was rolling on...

before the pandemic. when the air quality was particularly bad, people would wear masks. during the flu season or whatever i saw people wearing masks

then the pandemic happpened. and then it "went away"

and now basically no one wears masks. even during flu season. even with shit air. 🤷 whatsup?
Disappointed to see Jon Stewart & co joke about masking in public. I do it for my medically fragile daughter (Batten Disease). People not masking properly led to her getting pneumonia, which led to her being on life support, which led to me getting price quotes on her cremation just in case.

This is a policy pretty much everywhere these days, in hotels and Airbnbs. When our ceiling collapsed a couple years ago, we lived out of our car for a day before we could find anywhere to stay -- we had money but literally no one would take us because we were local to the area...
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

In America, where irony is dead, a hotel chain uses a policy denying shelter to local people, for fear of accidentally housing homeless persons…

To deny a reservation to the author of a much-lauded book on how American economic unfairness forces working people into homelessness.

I think the math on this is that every American including babies are going to have to lose 300+ pounds and while I am obviously a huge fan of GLP-1s (saved my life! resolved my autoimmune issues!) I'm not sure I recommend everyone losing 300+ pounds by the midterms?
Oz: We thought it was 125 million pounds. Our estimate is Americans will lose 135 billion pounds by the midterms

They probably already know this by now, but for artists who don't know yet, you can turn this off! In Create & Manage Invoices, there's a Feedback section with the setting before you make an invoice.
Apparently Paypal is now asking those who commissioned artists through invoices for feedback on the experience, Please never type anything, Its a trap. Just putting both yours and their accounts at risk of bans.

Dear Jon Stewart c/o @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social
I recently watched, with great surprise and disappointment, a weeklyshowpodcast segment in which you and other "personalities," gleefully mocked and derided the relatively small subset of individuals who continue to wear a face mask in public.

The best part about buying a coat secondhand is seeing what's left in the pockets. My highlights have so far been: various $ bills and change, a small plastic bird, various unmatching buttons, keys, acid tabs and magnetic letters. The lows have been: old tissues, dried blood and a mummified carrot.

My favorite thing about Frog and Toad is that it is the story of two men deeply and obviously in love with one another, drawn as a tribute to his lifelong partner by a gay man long before their relationship was socially sanctioned.
Then Frog and Toad went out onto the front porch to wait for the mail.

They sat there, feeling happy together.
