Two things can be true at once.

Schumer needs to go and Ro Khanna is a sweaty insufferable opportunistic shit-weasel who would trample a room full of toddlers to get in front of a camera to sell himself as the future.
Khanna: You know, someone said to me, “Well, this backbencher from the House is calling for Schumer to step down.”

I said, “The point is the backbenchers need to come to the front.” Those of us in the back — we need to move to the front. And a new generation of leadership needs to emerge.”

I wonder if the United States can learn anything from the last time a major industrialized country decided to isolate itself from the rest of the world?

Almost a decade after the Brexit vote, GDP in the UK is around 6-8% lower relative to peer countries. (Source: www.nber.org/papers/w34459)

Dude, they don't care. They will burn America to the ground just to rule over the ashes. All they care about is white supremacy.

Have you followed the history of conservatism in America?

If you're looking around thinking "if Trump & the Republicans cause enough suffering, there will be backlash & accountability," I would direct your attention to the UK. Hard to think of any country in history so clearly, demonstrably, theatrically fucked by a single party ... and yet.
The thing to understand about this is that this catastrophe in the UK has redounded to the political benefit of the very same people and political movement that pushed for it! Extremely perverse.

The language of the Republican party is that of an abusive father.

The language of the Democratic party is that of an abused mother telling her child not to anger their father.
Sarah, I am all for building working class coalitions, but you constantly get it backwards. It’s not trans people who hate working class MAGA folks, but the reverse! Why must we accommodate their bigotry while abandoning other marginalized working class ppl who will actually return our solidarity?

This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.

I have had an individual insurance plan for most of the last 20 years, a comparable level of coverage. Without subsidies, my premiums went up less year over year after the ACA because the risk pool finally included people who didn’t use their insurance much. And I could only get an individual plan
Tell me you don’t understand risk pools without telling me you don’t understand risk pools

Total legend. Replaced Mifune as Kurasawa's leading man and starred in probably the best political/meta samurai film ever; "Harakiri" («切腹» 1962).
Also cute old person energy levels over 9000.

If games companies don't want to pay voice actors what they could do is just not have spoken dialogue. Games did that for decades. It's fine. Just DON'T USE THE PLAGIARISM SLOP MACHINE OH MY GOD IT IS NOT HARD TO NOT USE IT YOU JUST DON'T USE IT THAT IS ALL. GAMES DO NOT ALL NEED VOICES.

I have called @merkley.senate.gov and @wyden.senate.gov and left a message: unless I see you calling and actively working for the ouster of Schumer and Durbin as party leaders, I will assume you supported the betrayal yesterday.

We have to assume that every Senate Democrat who's not publicly calling for Schumer's ouster signed off on what happened Sunday.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now
