Also, this is a complete retelling of the first few months of the war lol, Ukraine used conventional firepower and weapons to stop the Russian advance, not drone swarms lol

a 757 with only the pilots onboard leaving dallas at like 3 am yesterday got permission to do an unrestricted climb (plane go up real fast) to 17,000 feet and everyone, including the controllers, was hilariously excited

Fascinating retrospective read on an iOS exploit, but the most interesting part might be the Aftermath section.

Apparently Apple shifted gears with iOS 14 and started implementing deep mitigations, which despite not perfect really changed the game.

It’s still surprising to me how useless X, Bluesky, and other 'feeds' have become at helping you catch up on news in the morning. There was about a decade where they were superior to any one homepage, but that era is over, over, over. We’re back to newsletters and typing “CNN.com” into the URL box.

Heard a great talk by a commercial airline pilot about safety regulations for pilots compared to surgeons.

I asked if older pilots get mad when younger pilots voice safety concerns because they think the only way to be a great pilot is to work while exhausted and he looked at me like I was crazy.

I kinda wish for a series like Star Wars, instead of slipping fan service into movies they'd just release one movie that was 3 hours of winking at the audience in between kung fu lightsaber fights, with no plot. Sort of like how organic farms have trap crops at the edges to satisfy pests.

Oof. Reportedly, if you got a certificate from SSL.com by putting "example[@]gmail.com" at _validation-contactemail.example.com, they would add gmail.com (!!!) to your verified domains.

A good reminder to use the CAA record, and to sign up for CT monitoring (e.g. Cert Spotter).
