In case I wasn't clear yesterday, in addition to the high-profile ad with Lady Gaga singing "Won't You Be My Neighbor," there was an NFL ad featuring "You Are Special," my favorite Mr. Rogers song and one that was very meaningful to me as a child. (Understatement.)

The bitterness, man. No fruit can hide the bitterness.

I just can't. Too bitter.

So close but I'm going to have to opt out of the kale

100%.

"Lol sportsball" sneering is a socially acceptable thing in nerd circles but it is also extremely toxic too cool for school self-vicitimization.
a perfidious thing 90s media did was associate the stereotype of the bully with sports via The Jock. sports are cool, you get to hang out with your friends, have fun, get good brain chemicals, and it took me forever to realise that because media told me it was for bad people.

Another day, another post at SixColors, this time talking about how I'm still able to watch live sports after cutting the cable cord. sixcolors.com/post/2026/02...
Sling’s Day Passes are the answer to my streaming prayers
I cut the cable TV cord just about seven years ago, and I don’t regret the move at all. Through a judicious selection of streaming services—some free, some bundled—I’m able to see most …

We played Random Pursuit, which is normally Trivial Pursuit with a bunch of sets at once. This time, there was a didgeridoo involved.

I hate this so much and filed it as a feedback a few months back.
[P] This is the whitest of whines, but…QWERTY keyboards have been laid out for, like, decades with the bracket symbol “under” the curved bracket (so that you have to hit shift to type the curved bracket). So in the recent iPad update Apple decided to swap them…why, exactly?

I filed this as a bug a few months ago. It is an insane decision.

I was laid off from The Washington Post today. I know, real original sentence. My first plagiarism in 20 years of journalism.

My job was stupid fun and I loved every minute of it. I’m sad for my talented colleagues but sadder the world will not get to read, watch and listen to their amazing work.

We discussed the movie FRANKENSTEIN (Guillermo del Toro edition). I loved it, but I probably would have loved it just as much with no actors in it. Just give me a good look at the sets. And costumes, I guess, so the actors can stay.
