One more time. This was not, as one emailer says, a "few bad actors" who "misbehaved." This was an attempt to overthrow a free and fair election. I wrote about why we can't describe it any other way, ever.

The White House just changed the home page of its website to praise Trump's pardon of the insurrectionists. It's gaslighting of the first order. Rarely has a point I'm making been proved so thoroughly. This really ticks me off, and I wrote about it all.

People got upset that Tony Dokoupil, who officially began as the anchor of the CBS Evening News on Monday, compared himself favorably to Walter Cronkite. That was dumb but something else he said is far more troublesome. Have a look:

I wonder if Hegseth, Rubio, etc., are under orders to praise Trump in every press conference before talking about whatever they’re supposed to talk about or if they realize sucking up is the way to keep your job.

This was in the paper today. Judging from the response this got I think it's fair to say that some people would be just fine with the idea of all media bowing down to Trump. Scary. There's a link to the column in the comments.

'Marty Supreme' is bonkers. And the most entertaining movie of 2025
'Marty Supreme' is the best performance of Timothée Chalamet's career. Josh Safdie's film about a table-tennis hustler is one of the best of the year.

Re this 2-post thread: No journalists, including those at 60 Minutes, are obliged to include non-responsive quotes in pieces. Was the question to the White House "What should 60 Minutes cover?" If not, you do not have to grant them free airtime in a story in the name of "balance" or anything else.
As "60 Minutes" finalized its "Inside CECOT" report last Thursday, CBS sent the White House a request for comment. A WH spokesperson responded within a few hours. The quote was not included in the "60" report – so, judge for yourself whether it should have been included or not >>>
