This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

the thing about this entire Megyn Kelly situation is that many of the victims are alive and vocal and Virginia Giuffre wrote a book before she died and so nobody actually needs to be debating the meaning of the term “pedophile” because we KNOW EXACTLY HOW THE HIGHLY VULNERABLE VICTIMS WERE HARMED

Hey book lovers! Support your local library, of course. Also! Cool news! @bookshop.org has free shipping July 8-11. They also now sell ebooks, which is an excellent development. AND if you sign up for their email, there are periodic boook/ebook deals & I've snapped up many fine books that way. 💚📖🔥📘

In July of 1852, Frederick Douglass delivered one of the greatest speeches in US history. Today it’s often presented in abridged form, though, and skips what seems like a long-winded introduction. If you read the intro closely, however, there’s an ingenious structure. THREAD👇🏽

FUN FACT! Did you know that if we effectively taxed the rich, we could actually *lower* taxes for the working class? If you made less than the annual cost of living, you could actually pay NOTHING while still having a funded government. :-)

CLARIFICATION :

The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline.

They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY

So spread this around

They can be texted. They can be called.

“We do not find any evidence that accommodative strategies reduce radical right support. If anything, our results suggest that they lead to more voters defecting to the radical right.“

Any bias we currently have, AI will scale it. That's it.

At BASELINE, Black applicants are denied mortgages at a rate 80% higher than white applicants. Outsourcing approvals to AI will WIDEN the gap, especially for Black women who get the worst deals in home loans. This is #TheDoubleTax.

The big “why do you hate AI?” Thread got comments and quotes turned off, but here’s the main reason I hate AI:

It’s being developed by the worst people on the planet solely to enrich themselves at the expense and labor of the world’s vulnerable populations. Everything else stems from that
