I always remember that clip from French TV in the 80s where an elderly, drunken Pepe Le Pew crudely propositioned Whitney Houston
Noam! Noam, it's Marvin. Your cousin, Marvin Chomsky. You know that new theory you're looking for? Well, listen to this!

I mean, it's one penis Michael. How much can it cost? $150,000?

Me: so it's basically a remote assassination device for high value, high security targets such as world leaders, politicians, military generals and the like. It will revolutionise war. Think of all the millions of lives it will save.

MPs laughed when Jake Richards dismissed Jeremy Corbyn’s request for a meeting on the Palestine Action hunger strikers.

Laughed.

This is who we’re governed by, people entrusted to represent a nation, yet so insulated by power they respond to human suffering with indifference and mockery.

My sense is that the “male loneliness crisis” is not really about addressing men’s emotional needs but rather the relatively newfound absence of having someone to perform domestic labor for you quietly in the background now that there is a longer gap between your mother and your wife doing it

Can aphantasia people also not call to mind smells, flavours and audio memories? Is it just visual imagination they don't have? Can they remember what something feels like?

I recently asked myself the question: what's the biggest grift in the world right now?

Comparing MPs pay with Doctors.

Isn't it amazing, austerity for everyone except Billionaires and MPs.

What a coincidence.

As a person who has been studying extreme far right ideologies for the last decade (and did a PhD on immigration) I find the entrance of “remigration” into the mainstream American political lexicon so profoundly disturbing

I have no proof of this but the correct spelling is "it weighs a ton". You can't use metric when being idiomatic. "It weighs a tonne" is obviously wrong. Just as wrong as "give him a centimetre and he'll take a kilometre"

There's a cafe in Fountainbridge that literally never opens. It's always clean and appears to be stocked. Every Christmas someone puts up new decorations. Pretty sure it's a cafe for ghosts.

Not easy to get to sleep tonight - have burnt the bridge of whatever career I had left and really don’t feel that my opinions are so extreme that that should have been necessary
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Already disappointed in Supergirl and the trailer isn't even out. They're adapting possibly the greatest mainstream comic from the past few years and clearly have decided to drop the incredible and inventive fantasy aesthetic for something far more conventional

This year I got to see two original series run for second arcs and I'm so grateful to everyone out there who read these books. Getting to tell longer stories in the medium I love is a privilege I cherish.

I'm deeply concerned about the wellbeing of prisoners who were involved in Palestine Action protests, and are currently on hunger strike.

Some have not eaten for six weeks. A number have been hospitalised. They are all being held on remand - without trial or conviction.

It would be unbelievable if this administration wasn't so bone-stupid.

Federal prosecutors spent over a year trying to extradite a woman to the US to face charges, and now that they have, ICE wants to deport her.
Feds bring woman to U.S. to face charges, then say she’s here illegally
A federal magistrate judge called the situation “Kafkaesque” at a hearing in U.S. District Court in Washington.
