The historian in me feels the need to note that contests between cities and their rural hinterland are not new things and they do not generally go great for the rural folks.

The historian in me feels the need to note that contests between cities and their rural hinterland are not new things and they do not generally go great for the rural folks.
This is so insane because it assumes that the disjuncture is among Democrats broadly when it is actually between *people who vote Democrat* and *the people they voted into office*
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.
