This reminds me of the time that fiddler/violinist Ashley MacIsaac here in Canada
1) got caught with illegal pot in 2001,
2) was first in line to buy it after Justin Trudeau legalized it:

“I don't need to be a criminal anymore, and that's a great feeling [...] my new dealer is the prime minister!”

Reposting out of a response thread to remind US people: if you make people mad on the internet, it is a VERY worthwhile investment to add an umbrella policy to your homeowners' or renters' insurance. I recommend a $2m per incident minimum; we increased ours to $5m recently just in case.
This is part of why I *strongly* recommend anyone who makes assholes on the internet mad a lot should have a umbrella liability policy added to their homeowners' or renters' insurance, with a minimum coverage of $2m per incident, although we just increased ours to $5m just in case.

like if you look at the turnover at the VP/SVP level in big tech it was an absolute bloodbath where the worst guys got a rocketship into management while the best of the old guard all got promoted to fired. (got increases in title with zero reports.)

When I was a young guy who had just moved to the city in 2014, I couldn’t afford to go home for Christmas, so I stayed and bummed around the city and found about the Kennedy Center free jazz concert. After that long day, I felt like maybe this could be home.
“.. The concert had been held at the Kennedy Center for 20 years ..”

Not just holding them, but airing them on two (!) separate streaming services.

Roger Goodell solely exists to make the owners richer, even if it comes at the expense of the fans.
The NFL getting three garbage games on Christmas is exactly what the NFL deserves for holding three games on Christmas

John Oliver has said this explicitly FYI

That without local news he couldn't do his show (and to his credit, he's pretty good about crediting his news sources)
When I was on CNN's northeast desk, the first job at 6a every morning was to read the local papers. That guided some of what the massive CNN machine followed every day.

When those papers die, CNN doesn't hire new regional reporters. What you get instead is more panel shows, more punditry.
"The newspaper industry served as a feeder for our entire news media ecosystem. So when we lose those newspapers, we've lost that journalism. In the early 2000s, we had 40 journalists per 100,000 people. We're now down to 8 journalists per 100,000 people," says @victorpickard.bsky.social.
