My @bossfightbooks.bsky.social book on Minesweeper covers a game that was pre-installed on 4 billion Windows computers but has had very little previous scholarly attention.

As someone with a collection of hundreds of pressed pennies, I feel this. But getting rid of it was the right thing to do
Unpopular opinion but I’m gonna miss the penny

In general it's useful to think about what the GOP would have done today if the shoe was on the other foot.

Pizzagate: If you replace the word “hot dog” with “little boy” and “pizza party” with “child sex orgy,” you will see the lengths these elites go to cover up their crimes.

Real elite emails: Send me nude pictures of those 8th graders we abused last weekend post-haste! I am the Ambassador to Turkey.

Here's the thing: If the Steam Machine costs more than a Steam Deck (which can just be docked to a TV), it becomes a pretty hard sell in comparison.

I know it has "6x the power" and can supposedly do FSR'ed 4K, but still...

So far responses to this are all over the map in both directions. The expectations game is a tough one on this stuff!
Over/unders for Steam hardware pricing:

Steam Machine 512GB: $700 (with controller), $650 (no controller)

Steam Frame: $600 (256GB), $750 (1TB)

Steam Controller (a la carte): $70

What say you all?

One of the GOP's sweatier Epstein defenses has been "if they had good stuff they'd have used it when Biden was president." But the growing awareness that Garland spiked anything that could look political explains this!
I feel like “mad at Merrick Garland” is going to hit a whole new level.

Not the main point, but can we just say that this is a very odd email exchange for a reporter (Michael Wolff) to conduct with a source (Jeffrey Epstein)?
Esp a source who, 7 years pvs, had pled guilty to solicitation of prostitution w/ a minor, and who'd been sued by a victim just 3 months earlier.

Somehow the "Just the News" bit is even more annoying than "thank you for your attention to this matter"

I distinctly remember a game journalist who would write up whole blog posts *while walking between E3 appointments*, typing with one hand while holding the laptop in his other.

(Name withheld out of respect)
just walked by a man standing on the metro escalator holding an open laptop, which he appeared to be actively looking at

I've said it before, but the 5-10 minutes when Zoom is "converting meeting recording" after a lengthy interview are some of the most harrowing of my working life.

I know this chart is wrong because a circa 2000 CRT TV is way more expensive and harder to find today...
Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

Most concise summary of the last 1.5 months of politics
Trump: I'm dismantling the Constitution, building a paramilitary fascist army loyal only to me, demolishing the White House, and blowing up the US economy for my billionaire cronies

Schumer: Okay, but you have to extend subsidies for corporate health care

Trump: No

Schumer: Okay
