Remember when it was just a given that Nazis and Nazi symbols were fucking abhorrent to 99.999999% of the American population?
Exclusive: The U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika, nooses and the Confederate flag as hate symbols.

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

Sometimes I think the best book reviews come from readers who don’t normally read a particular genre/subgenre! But seriously, RED WIDOW and RED LONDON are so good!!!!! Especially on audio!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Not sure if you'll like RED LONDON? Listen to @kt-librarylady.bsky.social

My late cat Gilbert will live on forever because he is listed as an attendee in the meeting notes for a virtual library board meeting during the pandemic. Pets should be officially documented like this more frequently!

What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.

Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

Thank god
All, please be aware (!!)

"The Supreme Court on Monday turned down a request that it consider overturning its landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage a decade ago."

I had the teensiest bit of faith that Durbin would stand for something principled now that he’s not up for reelection. What a gutless shell of a man
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

I have been diagnosed as not having ADHD, but the executive dysfunction is still strong in this one, and this take is 1000% accurate. It’s like trying to shove your way through a brick wall, or attaching weights to your limbs every time you tell yourself you need to do the dishes.
10/10 take. No notes.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter” is precisely the level of petty I desire to see from the Democrats.
Gotta give em’ credit on this one.

“We write to demand a bipartisan meeting … to end the GOP shutdown of the federal government and decisively address the Republican healthcare crisis…

Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The easy obvious way, which is to capitulate to MAGA, who haven’t been interested in negotiating, who have put the House in indefinite recess, and who refuse to swear in the new AZ Dem rep because Epstein files. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.

Sometimes horror movies are a catharsis against everything happening in the real world, and sometimes horror movies are like Bring Her Back and just traumatize you. Christ on a crapstick, that was bleak. Like if Ari Aster had directed Pet Sematary.

Yeah but if the MAJORITY of the evil corrosive political violence is coming from the right, and right wing politicians are actively encouraging violence, then that needs to be called out and addressed!
Sen. WELCH: The stakes are too high. If all political violence is wrong, evil, and corrosive, the debate about ‘where there’s more’ doesn’t help us get anywhere.

I mean this is viscerally upsetting because it's really genuinely him treating the white house like it's his own personal property; he's the king and it's his palace. No other president ever thought like this, even if they were a fucking horrible person, because it goes against our founding creed
I'm not a West Wing obsessed lib or anything but the more I see pictures of this the more fucked up I think it is. It's like he cut off one of the hands of the Lincoln memorial with an angle grinder so he could add a big gun to it.
The Treasury Department instructed employees not to share to share photos of the demolition of parts of the White House’s East Wing
