I hate this business
TFW… you see a Publishers Marketplace announcement for a sale by an author to your editor that sounds an awful lot like the book you just published.

Do you know someone who loves noir? Can't go wrong with CROOKS by Lou Berney or ALL WE TRUST (or anything) by Greg Galloway

In intel, there's the WaPo test: would you do what you're about to do if you knew it was going to land on the WaPo front page? A person with bad judgment or a lack of control will do it anyway. How arrogant/psycho do you have to be to go to Rape Island and think that it could never ever touch you?
Massie: "I am sorry if one of your billionaire donors is gonna get embarrassed because he went to Rape Island. That is what they have coming. In fact, they need to be on the other side of bars, a lot of them."

No one asked, but re: GDT's FRANKENSTEIN, I'm in the camp that thinks its visually stunning but finds something disappointing about the story.

After several disappointing reads, I picked up THE GOLD PERSIMMON by Lindsay Merbaum/Creature Press and enjoying it (so far). Intriguing w/o being manipulative, good writing w/o obviously trying too hard
