Corporate litigation reporter for Law.com, living in Philly and (mostly) covering the Delaware Court of Chancery. Not a lawyer, not a wife, not a mom.
The Court of Chancery spends a lot of time deciding cases that involve multi-billion-dollar deals. Its equity jurisdiction means it also gets to decide things like who should keep Tucker the Goldendoodle (don't worry, he's not getting cut in half) courts.delaware.gov/Opinions/Dow...

Are we 100% sure the government shutdown is not just a ruse to let federal employees watch playoff baseball?

I would like to present this footnote from Magistrate Wright with no context.

Fall 2020 (just moved to Philly): I suppose I should try to watch an Eagles game

Fall 2025: I think each Eagles player deserves to spit on one member of the opposing team every game without consequences

This makes sense as Delaware is notoriously a state that doesn't have any practicing lawyers and doesn't ever have lawyers from other states file briefs in any of its courts
Sen. COONS: Are you a member of the Delaware Bar?

Trump nominee: Virginia and Maryland.

Coons: Practiced law in Delaware?

Nominee: I haven’t.

Coons: Filed a brief in a Delaware court?

Nominee: My practice has been as an academic and in Washington, DC.

My latest for Litigation Daily: some thoughts on how Texas and Delaware compare in the relationship between their business courts and legislatures.
To Litigate or Legislate? The Texas Approach to Building Corporate Law | Law.com
In an interplay that mirrors the current goings-on in Delaware, questions remain about how much say Texas legislators should have in shaping business law, and how much should be left to the courts.

One of Ohio's two great road trip landmarks (the other is the Hell is Real sign)
that's right folks, Ohio also has the former HQ of the Longaberger company. it's a seven story basket and it's empty because the company went bankrupt and nobody can figure out what to do with the building

Look I know from experience prisons will do anything to keep media out, but now that Jen Shah, Elizabeth Holmes and Ghislaine Maxwell are all in the same prison Bravo should have at least made some phone calls floating a new Housewives franchise

I put together an update on what's been going on with the constitutional challenge to SB 21 since the Supreme Court agreed to consider it in June.

Imagining a good CMS experience brought me the closest I've ever been to having any interest in seeing any superhero movie
This jumped out at me in “Superman.” The workflow and the “copy ready” /“web ready” buttons were adopted by NYT developers for the new CMS around 2010-11 after many meetings. Still in use there and elsewhere. In theory you could publish from a chopper. comicbookclublive.com/2025/07/12/s...

One thing Superman, the new movie from James Gunn, got totally correct? The way it used the Daily Planet's CMS.

Sure the decline of SEPTA means every day it takes me longer to get to the office I have to go to for no discernible reason, but if it were fully functional or I worked from home I wouldn't have walked past the man who yelled angrily that he liked my dress this morning. Balance

A website called delawarebusinesslitigation.com has popped up, set up like a law firm's website.

Across most of it, "Delaware Business Litigation" is used as a firm name, but as far as I know, that's not the name of an actual Delaware law firm.

Time it takes to drive from Philly to Wilmington:

40 min Oct.-March, if skies are perfectly clear & all luck is on your side (yet somehow 60 min for me if I'm trying to get to court 20 min early)

+20 min 7-10 a.m./3-6 p.m.

+15 min April-Sept. (construction)

+10 min if it's raining/snowing AT ALL
