This spring, we got on @trimet.org to survey 300+ regular transit riders about their needs. Riders want frequency, better shelters and unarmed rider ambassadors.

Please check out my article in The Thorn! It has a link to the full report.

Hear me out: in the voters pamphlet it might be compelling to show some transit & housing projects with scale, in addition to all the great individual benefit stuff.
A citizen ballot initiative backed by the Portland Police Association will seek to reroute 25% of revenues from the Portland Clean Energy Fund tax to fund the hiring of 400 additional police officers.

Advocates are celebrating a small win that makes a big difference in their lawsuit against the city after an appeals court ruled in their favor Thursday. A state land use board that understands complicated land use law better than the city's preferred Multnomah County court will hear their case.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Seattle has had a series of mayors who got elected promising to “finally” use police to crack down on homelessness — the existing policy that every previous mayor has deployed.

Once they get into office they don’t deliver because it doesn’t work. We waste four years and the problem gets worse.
The story about the gun got buried, virtually nobody in any position of influence talked about it. The more significant element of this was money. The business class within Seattle really liked his harsh-crackdowns-on-unhoused-people policy, and they put a lot of resources behind his campaign.

Thank you for working so hard to do the right thing. Someday your colleagues will have always been against sweeps.
I’m disappointed that we didn’t pass our amendment to redirect money from sweeps to upstream solutions like rental assistance, food assistance and immigrant and refugee support. But, I’m proud of the work that went into it and the absolute resolve in my colleague @councilormorillo.bsky.social

No one ride train. Cut budget. Unga bunga

Idk about you but I’d rather experience a poor person yelling on the train than be in a plane crash.
We gotta listen to this guy piss and moan about subway crime and he's out here saying "I can't guarantee safety"

Support not sweeps. We don’t have to live like this.

I don’t feel *good* about this! I want to see Lids Not Lanes. But maintaining the transit service we already have will always take priority over this.

This is not what they actually say. This is what they used to say, in the long ago before times when Shaheen learned to do politics. There is no kumbaya median voter anymore. The question you get knocking doors is not "why can't you all just work together?" it's "why didn't / will you fight harder?
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

I don’t think people understand how organized pro-sweep turnout will be to wednesdays council meeting.

Register for item 8 ASAP. If you can’t make it, testify in writing:

Ask me how I know 💀
this always gets pushback but try living in a state with a "part time" legislature that receives a small salary and you wind up with a government run by bail bondsman and guys who own boat dealerships
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.
