As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

If you feel overwhelmed, remember that you can still make a difference doing little things. A compliment or word of encouragement, a tip to a favorite takeout place, a donation to a local charity, an email to your favorite author, time with a pet, a walk outside, or a phone call to a loved one.

Love & appreciation to all the people who enthusiastically make and share videos about how to do things (program electronics kits, sharpen mower blades, fix small engines, explain math problems). My teen has a lot of interests that I can't help with directly, and you make both of our lives better.

I saw someone on my timeline shaming someone else for posting about college football in a time like this.

Folks, if we're going to survive a time like this, we're going to need to avoid burning out from an attitude of 24/7 vigilance and constant outrage.

Let people find joy where they can, please.

Please share YouTube links to the most regionally specific representations of where and when you grew up. Like… local sandwich shop commercials. Footage of amateur theater productions. Hyper regional news stories. I wanna see it all.

One thing at a time.
I know it's really hard right now.
But I see how hard you are still trying.
Deep breaths.
Please remember to take care of yourself.
Eat food, take your meds, and drink a big glass of water.
It's okay to be annoyed.
You can do things through spite, too.

Max loves you.

I just donated to my local food bank. If you can, you should too. People are already suffering but next month, in particular, is going to be so difficult.

My friend told me that her 14 year old son started doing laundry on Sundays for some of his elderly neighbors. He doesn't charge for the labor. And now he is the most popular person in the building and has non stop pies, cookies, and cake. The 14 year old should be our model of modern masculinity.

People who are dismissing these protests are missing the courage required for folks to show up to a #nokings event in small, rural, predominantly Republican communities. These people spend a lot of social capital to show up with signs and it’s really, really inspiring.
I sometimes see people dismissing the No Kings protests as performative.

Protesting *is* inherently performative. It's unity in the face of injustice, to inspire more people to notice and join. That leads to change.

It *is* brave to protest under a government that attacks dissenting speech.

Folks have been focused on the developing disaster in southwest Alaska, but America's farthest-west community is suffering, too: Adak has been without power for two weeks because of problems with the local generator.

A big question now is: why isn't FEMA in western Alaska?

Because they have not been deployed.

Gov. Dunleavy has requested a federal disaster declaration, and Alaska is waiting to hear back.

In the meantime, it's all local, tribal and state led relief efforts.

this is why I think the admin spending all week yelling about a “hate America” rally was stupid

anyone who tunes in gets to see funny signs, joyful crowds and shit like “an enormous constitution being carried to the White House”

this is a crowd that loves America and wants it to be better
