If you saw today's headline that Gallup will stop measuring presidential approval, they did the same thing in 2018. They do it whenever Trump is president.

My take on AI use

1) It's making it harder for people to learn *how* to learn

2) If you can't do everything you think ou should be doing without resorting to it — then you're doing (or being asked to do) too much

Newest topic added to the @unbreaking.org pages is infectious disease, including an explainer and a timeline of relevant events over the past year.

You might want to pour a stiff drink or get under a weighted blanket before reading.
Our newest timeline tracks actions that hamper our ability to control the spread of infectious diseases, making the US and the rest of the world more susceptible to disease outbreaks, including global pandemics:

More on NSF

Here are the number grants that were active in each year (at least part) including the effects of grant terminations (data from grant-witness.us) by directorate from 2021-2025.

The only directorates showing losses are STEM Education and Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences.

A black hole is right. There hasn't been an NSF Director since April 2025; not sure about the Deputy Director. I can't find any information about program officers or leadership on the NSF website.
