This is actually an understatement—the response was totally unhinged—but I'm glad Judge Novak is highlighting the Justice Department's venomous rhetoric.

As a factual matter: med mal insurance has been mostly stable for some time.

Requirements like this just impose HUGE costs on plaintiffs. If you want an expert to do this, they will often turn and bill you $5-20k.
The first, and not last, SCOTUS opinion today is in Berk v. Choy. Barrett has the opinion for the court, reversing the Third Circuit in a medical malpractice case. Jackson concurs in the judgment. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

There is a legit general strike in the entire state of Minnesota on Friday. The first in an entire US state. The AFL-CIO and dozens of unions are involved.

All power to the workers. Fuck the Gestapo.
Dear neighbor,

I’m joining faith leaders, union representatives and community members who are calling for a Day of Truth and Freedom on Friday, January 23, 2026.

This will be a general strike in Minnesota (no work, school, or shopping) in support of our immigrant neighbors. 1/

Archbishop Broglio is, to put it extremely mildly, not generally viewed as one of the more liberal of the American bishops.
It’s come to this: “Catholic members of the US armed forces could in good conscience consider disobeying orders to attack Greenland if such orders were issued, according to Archbishop Timothy Broglio, the bishop responsible for the pastoral care of US military personnel.”
Military archbishop: Troops could refuse orders on Greenland
Speaking to Britain's Sunday program on BBC, Archbishop Timothy Broglio reiterated that conscience could permit refusal of an unjust military order.

Love that they’re touting this as an LA event but in the small print they’re like “…actually it’s Riverside.”
Make Heaven Crowded is an insane title.

A tale of three apps. Identical post sent at the same time:

Twitter: 136,000 likes, 20,000 shares

Threads: 46,000 likes, 4,000 ahares

Bluesky: 149 likes, 45 shares

To be clear, I have 60k followers on Twitter, 15k on Bluesky, but only 7k on Threads.

I love Bluesky, but this isn't sustainable.

German Jews were citizens of Germany at the start of 1933. By the end of 1933, the Nazis had
removed citizenship from naturalized citizen Jews.

In 1935, all German Jews were fully stripped of their German citizenship.

Citizenship under dictatorships is contingent for targeted minorities.

The inexorable explanation for DHS's behavior in Minnesota is that *this is what law enforcement looks like.* What we are getting are wild contortions to justify a slightly less viscerally revolting police state for people who prefer their heads up their butts.

you know this guy is a FOR REAL photographer because he's telling the story of his brutal, unconditional arrest by federal goons and can't help but slip in a gear review
Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

It's happening, here.

We need certainty on who is operating in our city limits, and if the feds won't show credible indicia of authority, we need to create a pathway towards verifying who these people are, as one more step forward.

Racism isn’t just slurs or insults. It’s systems and decisions that consistently deny marginalized communities access to power, opportunity, stability, and dignity — often while pretending to be “neutral.” That’s what we’re actually talking about.

Naming it isn't divisive. Ignoring it is.
