The local downtown businesses do a pre-valentines promo. Last year it was 4 hearts on Franklin. This year it was 5 hearts in Franklin.

I keep to it as “5 nights on Franklin” which oddly is fitting since it was Friday the 13th.

I love that I get to do shows at our planetarium. I do one about DNA where I extract DNA from a strawberry after the movie, and I do one about dinosaurs, and the questions from the audience are *so good*

When Carpenter Media bought three Alaska newspapers, they had nine journalists in the state. Next week, they will have one.
In testimony on a journalism funding bill, a Carpenter Media representative reveals that the company that owns the largest share of newspapers in Oregon employs 60 journalists. Before Carpenter bought them, the Pamplin chain employed 110 people and EO 185, though not all were journalists.
