The Trump administration has filed an appeal in Rhode Island v. Trump, which halted further dismantling of the IMLS. Not a surprising update, but there is plenty about what's happening *at* the IMLS that's deeply concerning.

Books don't turn kids into someone else. Books show them they don't have to deny who they really are.
No book is going to turn kids into someone else. But books will regularly show kids other people like them and show those kids they're not alone. And they'll show kids other types of people who also exist. There is a large proportion of the population who are terrified of this.

Yay, @wxpnfm.bsky.social is currently playing "Peter and the Wolf" narrated by David Bowie! I love this version. "Peter and the Wolf" always transports me back to being a small child, lying on the living room carpet by the speaker listening to the story on our family stereo.

The city's emergency programs manager says that the historic 4-foot snowpack appeared to stabilize over the weekend. But on Monday the avalanche risk rose again due to a change in the weather.
New avalanche alert issued for Behrends, White neighborhoods, Thane Road
Once again, the alert is not an evacuation advisory. If an evacuation is necessary, Centennial Hall is being set up to accommodate residents.

The current state of my driveway. We just did the second shoveling pass today - probably another 10" fell since lunchtime. We'll see what the morning brings. (Forecast says 4-7 more inches tonight 😭.)

So, so thankful for my neighbor who came over and used his snowblower to clear my berm after the plows came (first time since Sunday). The berm was almost to my shoulders, and I actually cried when I saw how much there was (after shoveling out most of the driveway from the snow we got last night).

I just want it to stop snowing. 😭 Woke up to another probably ten inches overnight. I don’t know where I’m going to put it all after shoveling the 2+ feet of the last few days (not to mention the snow from the storm last week). This has been the worst winter “break“.
