Most modern business *is* a scam. Instead of acquiring and keeping customers with a product or service people love, companies instead work to trick people into paying for (or using) something, then trapping them by destroying competition, while slowly reducing quality and service to increase profit.
Aside from everything else it's just kind of funny that the CFPB is way over there on the left, meaning "companies shouldn't be able to scam you and take your money" is largely antithetical to conservatism
The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

👇🎯 Today in “neither our media nor our political system is designed to deal with a far right authoritarian party”

So many of the individuals who make up our institutions are simply not fit for purpose in the political world as it actually exists here & now, in 2025.
It's clear that we're heading towards at least one major catastrophe -- economic collapse, government failure, health crisis, maybe all of them -- and it's baffling to me that some Senate Democrats seem downright *eager* to claim their share of responsibility for the coming wreck.
Snipping one part of this to again note: it seems very few members of Congress realize what their lives are going to be like in the near future when Trump/Musk rip out some of these gears that run the America machine. They will face angry mobs everywhere they go, including their homes.

The vast majority of Senators & Representatives do not understand what their lives are going to be like after Trump/Musk muck up and/or steal large payment streams to states, local gov'ts, contractors, and individuals, while every sector gets hit with a tariff tax. Their constituents will be feral.

Murphy's ideas on how to oppose and what to advocate are excellent. I would add a point. You can't fight a feeling with a fact. You can only fight it with another feeling. Democrats need to tap into the emotions that can turn voters against Trump. Democratic leaders need to understand this
Important from Sen Chris Murphy: He says Dems are not functioning as an effective opposition to Trump's accelerating authoritarianism right now, and that this is dangerously complacent.

I pushed him on this, and we had a long exchange. In these four screen caps:

The thing thats useful to note, regardless of where one stands on the current discourse or meta discourse, is that the health insurance industry is fundamentally parasitic—it creates no value, it cures no diseases, it doesnt efficiently allocate resources. it is a wholly superfluous shakedown racket
