And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

As folks head to the polls today from CA to NYC, here's a good reminder that part of what's on the ballot is the power of the tech oligarchy (see: Musk backing Cuomo etc). Last week, I spoke with @jacobsilverman.com about his new book, GILDED RAGE, and our chat feels pretty relevant today.
Understanding the tech oligarchy and its gilded rage with Jacob Silverman
Why did Silicon Valley's most powerful figures lurch right and embrace authoritarianism? Why are they so angry? How do we push back? Plus, some great luddite horror films and a riff on Frankenstein.

It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

This Vegas police equipment thing was a small detail in a wonderful book conversation I saw recently with @jacobsilverman.com talking about GILDED RAGE. It's all so gross and awful.
The nation’s largest police fleet of Tesla Cybertrucks is set to begin patrolling the streets of Las Vegas in November thanks to a donation from a U.S. tech billionaire, raising concerns about the blurring of lines between public and private interests.
