2d animators are unionized and 3d animators are not, which is why hollywood moved to 3d
2D animation is booming in theaters. In China, the film Nobody is outgrossing many of Hollywood's recent CG films—on a $10< million budget.

It's only one example. As 2D films rise, Hollywood's decision to kill them off looks shortsighted. We explore:

when the AI bubble finally collapses and everyone who spent a year smugly hyping it suddenly has to come crawling back with their tail between their legs, i just want to say i am not going to be the bigger person about it. i am going to be meaner than you can even believe

I haven’t been this excited for a bubble to burst since I was a toddler.
MIT’s NANDA initiative found that 95% of generative AI deployments fail after interviewing 150 execs, surveying 350 workers, and analyzing 300 projects. The real “productivity gains” seem to come from layoffs and squeezing more work from fewer people not AI.
MIT report: 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing
There’s a stark difference in success rates between companies that purchase AI tools from vendors and those that build them internally.

If you are a gamer or enjoy any kind of media, I encourage you to watch this video about the Steam, itch. io, and payment processor hit job being undertaken by 'Collective Shout' and their attempt to try and ban/censor video games.

It is an important topic regarding censorship in our lives.
Here’s my feature on Collective Shout, and their attempts to take down Steam and itch.io. I found a conversation where they spoke about exactly how they did it, and detailed their plans going forward, which sounds… very unrelenting.

Like many technologies, AI is designed to kill humans, but in the most soulless way possible, stripping away even our ability to own and express our pain.

Bertolt Brecht: "In the dark times, will there also be singing?
Yes, there will be singing, about the dark times.”

AI: NOT SO FAST
If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages

I can enjoy folklore, tolerate differing political opinions, & have fun with a good flying saucer story, but where I see red flags is when we're unable to agree on facts. We can debate what facts *indicate* but we can't be in conflict about what has & has not been established as fact.

An investigation into the use by federal agencies of AI in the FOIA process shows intelligent research methods as well as interesting results. Verdict still out on DOJ, NARA, CIA and others.
Through our AI in FOIA project, we’ve found that one agency explored using AI to identify and automate redaction of exempt information. Others indicated that they used AI, but claimed they had no records responsive to our FOIA requests. www.muckrock.com/news/archive...
How federal agencies responded to our requests about AI use in FOIA
Some federal agencies report using AI to process FOIA requests. We asked for documentation, but they say none exists.

Even they recognized pregnancy as a high risk condition.

Today their boss said nope, no COVID vaccines for pregnant people. Another decision that will kill people

I wrote about Republicans’ efforts to restrict access to COVID vaccines, and how this aligns with ongoing efforts to claim that COVID is the problem of a few “vulnerable” individuals, rather than a collective public health crisis.

Denying vaccine access to the "healthy" makes no sense, not least because anybody can become disabled by a single COVID infection
