I’m just a Ballard bunny.
This is extremely painful to hear after a series of progressive victories in local elections. It feels like a betrayal.

There is no need to give Microsoft Brad Smith’s voice and concerns any amplification. His money already speaks volumes.
King County Executive-elect Girmay Zahilay has responded to scrutiny over his appointment of Microsoft president Brad Smith, saying he condemns “any facilitation human rights violations committed in Gaza.” He pledged to continue to engage with major regional institutions like Microsoft.

You CANNOT let this slide. We have learned nothing from Donald Trump if we do. He framed this entire hour long speech extravaganza as a “bipartisan passing of the torch” and peppered it with disingenuous “humble jokes” to mask the ill intentions behind it.

Failed Mayor, Bruce Harrell’s “ concession” speech was quite interesting and showed just how slimy and backhanded these corporate elite bootlicking parasitic cockroaches can be. Peppered with “jokes” and false humility, what he really was doing was far worse. #seattle #bruceharrell
#spd
Mike Solan, SPD guild president, issued a statement openly questioning the validity of the votes for Katie Wilson.

Solan's embrace of the far right & SPD's history of aggression could make a dangerous situation if the national guard is sent to #Seattle.

Bluesky suspended Sarah Kendzior today for no reason whatsoever. She just shared excerpts of her articles, which were as always incisive and not offensive at all. Hey @pfrazee.com this is super not OK. I know her- we've interacted a fair bit via chats and her work is essential.

I almost got run over by a car because of this bag. Can’t you just bag the button instead of the entire sign? It’s very confusing and extremely dangerous. Drivers seem to think this isn’t a pedestrian crossing area because they can’t see the sign.
I agree that this isn't ideal. We're waiting for crews to complete work (both signal activation and street markings). The black bags are to prevent confusion. We don't want people to expect the RRFBs to work when they haven't been activated.

I think she can close the gap but still ... the enraging hypocrisy of this supposedly progressive city that inspired me to create The Needling persists. Shouldn't be this close at all. NYC gets to party tonight and we don't because this city is full of so many closeted conservatives.
In Seattle, Bruce Harrell (incumbent) is leading with 53% of the vote over Katie Wilson for Mayor.

Every centrist argument is
But they had to balance the budget or
they had to make sure the jobs in the city don't go away or
they had to support X candidate to prevent retaliation...

It's prefaced with a but since people know these actions are wrong BUT they have to justify them

Yes, I am sure Harrell will remain infamous
Much more crowded scene at Bruce Harrell's party now. Harrell is speaking, saying "we always keep things positive" after running an incredibly negative campaign against Katie Wilson. Results will be in shortly. "We are well secured in the history books" whether Harrell wins or loses, he says.

This impression seems spot on to me. I think there's something to explore here.

What makes Seattle different than New York where Mamdani had a decisive victory?
This is so disappointing. Folks think we're a hard blue state, but we're not. We could flip red more easily than we want to admit. Every vote counts, every year.
Less than 20% of registered voters across WA had returned their ballots as of 5 p.m. Monday. That puts the state on track for record low turnout. Data shows returns lagging even in places with high-profile contests for offices like county executive and mayor. Voters can return ballots until 8 p.m.

I hope there's a lot of other Katie Wilson voters who waited until the last minute to vote but it looks like we voted out Sara Nelson!!! And the city attorney!!

I'm still willing to say that this was a HUGE progressive win in Seattle.

You should still continue to boycott Fremont Brewing

Regardless of the result, I don't think the motto "haters gonna hate" bodes well for him.
Anderson praying for Harrell to "get victory and give this city what it needs, and that is Mayor Bruce Harrell back in the seat. ... There are a lot of haters out there. [Lots of cheers]. God, do what you do best and give us victory."

Hi folks, I could not finish my threads about election candidates, but please vote by 8 pm!

This is our city and we deserve much better from the people representing us. Every vote counts, especially in local elections!
November 5, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Hi Erica, can you specify voter approved levies that are being used for other purposes? Bonnie the bunny wants to be accurate while raging. Bonnie was confused if you were talking about Jumpstart (was it a voter approved levy) or if your are talking about ballot funds being misappropriated?
I would say that raises the question of why voters should support any ballot measure that supposedly dedicates funds to a purpose. If levies are slush funds, then ask voters to just pay a new tax for "any general fund purposes as determined by future elected officials" and see how that goes.
