The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Catherine my good bitch you guys are the only ones who do not know where the Republicans stand
Steve Inskeep: You think the Republicans voting with you here will not only agree to these measures, but actually try to do something if the administration ignores them?
Sen Cortez Masto: If they go back on their word, then the American public will know where the Republicans stand.

Wowzers! 6 out of 7 Spokane City Council seats will now be made of liberals and progressives 🤯
Zero votes left to count! It appears Sarah Dixit has won a seat on Spokane City Council by more than 100 votes. Because the percentage difference is more than 1% it will not go to a recount.

Based on current ballot return statistics, adjusting for incurable ballots and challenged ballots, and then adjusting for residual rate, write-in rate, and assuming around half the remaining challenged ballots are cured, I'd say there are about 7,000 votes left to count in the mayor's race.

The word from King County Elections is we'll probably get around 35,000 Seattle ballots in today's count. That will leave roughly 10,000 left. It sounds like they had quite a few "cured" ballots come in over the weekend that will be counted Tuesday (Yes, they're counting on Veteran's Day).

The Supreme Court will decide if mail-in ballots must be received by Election Day
This would impose a new limitation and force changes in states like Washington, where mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, but can be delivered by the post office after Election Day #WAelex

The Supreme Court did grant review of one case today, Watson v. Republican National Committee, and it's a big one over state laws allowing the counting of ballots cast by Election Day but received after Election Day.

I am my family's sole income so we have had nothing for the past 40 days. We're also on an ACA plan. I don't want us to have gone through this for nothing.
My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

@murray.senate.gov @cantwell.senate.gov I hope this is just a rumor because this would be disrespectful to the people Democrats say they’re fighting for.
Let me get this right… a sufficient number Senate Democrats appear to be willing to reopen government to alleviate air travel for upper & upper-middle income people at the expense of access to healthcare for lower income people. Yes?

I am once again saying that we saw what wall to wall, panic coverage of a crisis looked like after the Biden debate and there’s no reason Trump isn’t getting that kind of coverage except for class solidarity.
So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?

Mmmmm. Imagine believing most Jamaicans live in shacks.
That's a prosperous looking home with that vehicle and all. How many Jamaicans can afford to put up panels? Do they have to own their homes to do so? Do their homes need to be very sturdy, not shacks?

Dan Strauss gets it. I’d rather have a line down the block for tacos at 23rd and Rainier than an empty gravel lot.
Here is Dan Strauss talking about how this taco stand has been the most positive activation of this street corner he has seen in years. SDOT Director Emery confirms SDOT will take an approach of education first with a path to permitting. Tonight SPD shut this stand down citing enforcement by SDOT.
