South End Groups Provide Food and Farming Opportunities for Youth

“In recent years, Seattle's South End has seen an uptick of organizations seeking to return to the land through culturally specific farming, food preparation, and food distribution, amid an economy rife with food insecurity.”

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

The reason you go scorched-earth on this is the same reason we should have gone scorched-earth on impoundment; you can't stop it from happening, but you absolutely need to stop it from becoming a normal part of politics. You have to draw a line.

hey remember when a bunch of middle-aged drunk korean lawmakers climbed the locked gates to the national assembly to hold an emergency session after the president gave illegal orders to the military, all of which ended with said president being sentenced to prison

In our name, with our money, ostensibly for oil, but mostly because we have a president who's addicted to power and attention and needs to deflect from being friends with the world’s most famous pedophile. Shame on these fucking monsters who run my country. They need out.

Here's a crazy shot I got tonight at sunset. Although at first it might look like an alien abduction is ready to take place, this is actually a reservoir miles away, shrouded in clouds. I was zoomed in with my 150mm x 600mm and it created a weird perspective. #SantaBarbara #Sunset

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

every one I talk to in all my various sides of life ALL keep mentioning all the homelessness they see and use that to indicate how unsafe it is. (in EVERY city)

When I point out they are usually the least likely to bother you (other than maybe asking for change), they always shrug.
I know the normal answer is that *well, people feel unsafe*

Okay, fine. But if cities are getting safer but residents think the opposite, why? Is this the fault of tabloid media and tub-thumping politicians? The by-product of an aging and possibly more fearful population? Something else?

The daycare that a kid in my family attends is being harassed. In Washington state.
The entire right wing media apparatus is in a rabid frenzy saying every childcare is fraudulent and now people are showing up to random daycare centers demanding to see the children and screaming at daycare workers. This is absolutely insane and I worry this is going to end in a major tragedy.
