There are great local reporters covering elections in every major city and elections vary in vast and surprising ways across jurisdictions and states. How DDHQ justifies making a call when literally no local reporters/media have made it is a mystery to me.

That was cheap by DDHQ. You could tell they weren’t consulting with any legitimate local folks.

To their credit, they rescinded the call the day after they made it. But it was definitely an avoidable mistake.

Based on current ballot return statistics, adjusting for incurable ballots and challenged ballots, and then adjusting for residual rate, write-in rate, and assuming around half the remaining challenged ballots are cured, I'd say there are about 7,000 votes left to count in the mayor's race.
