Remember—Billionaire philanthropy is PR

$6.25B is a lot of money. It’s also only 4.1% of the $152B Michael Dell has hoarded. If Dell paid the 37% tax rate on the wealthy he'd pay $56.25B—and still have nearly $100B, more than he'd ever need

Taxation of billionaires > philanthropy from billionaires

It’s #GivingTuesday. I have been awed by your generosity to Al Otro Lado. We are fighting together to protect and support migrants on both sides of our southern border. We’ve raised almost half a million dollars. We need more. If you haven’t joined us, please do: alotrolado.org/letsdosomething

Musk has been saying this for a while & if I were as lucky as Musk has been, while still not understanding many of the basics regarding how society works, I'd probably think I was living in a simulation too. But a nice way for him to admit he doesn't actually think he deserves what he has
Flawless logic, sir! Makes perfect sense that because video games are improving, we must live in a simulation!

A #painting for you from a while ago. "Tramore I" The last time I was in this corner of Waterford I was on a bicycle. I painted this because I love junctions, the possibilities they hold - which includes rendering me stuck at them unable to decide. Plus I like their shapes. #art #ArtYear #SpeirGhorm

The Boston Globe identified the companies in Massachusetts that employ the most SNAP recipients. A key stat: "In Massachusetts, 74% of working-age recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are employed, half of them full-time."

They are so vicious, and f* other administrations and former members of congress for not doing everything in their power to fix this inhumane system when they had the ability.

Been thinking lots about a friend I lost who took me to my first soup kitchen on Tgiving, like I learned so much about giving others dignity there- I don’t volunteer like I should, but I do always look others in the eyes (which is hard for auMe but I know the value to those usually shied away from).

Literally tearing up because I want to believe that a year from now there will be less (fewer?) hungry people in NYC. 💟
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

rogue one is bad folks. i have believed this since i saw it in theaters and no subsequent rewatch has changed my mind. basically a chop job until the final sequence, which is good (for star wars)

Like if you enjoyed the third act and didn’t care about any of the characters doing heroic sacrifices fine ok but I think the movie did a really good war/spy movie job of giving everyone some substance and if you don’t like these guys I simply think your heart is too cold

This is an interesting assessment. Maybe that has something to do with it. People look for leadership and if those who are supposed to lead are complicit and also cowardly, people might think that this is the sum of organizing and resistance.
Part of it is that a lot of the elite’s gave up, and are ignoring it.

There are more people organizing and pushing back against the regime today than there were in the first term. There are more people in more places (rural towns and big cities across the country). I think it's really strange how resistant some people are to these facts. I wonder what's going on.
