Very gay and autistic Bachelor of English/History, focused on 19th-century European literary history. I'm the one who whispers "*gasp* doggie" every single time I see one, so be warned
I rant about how annoying I find Modernist poets and yet immediately I thought of:

For I have known the eyes already, known them all
Eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase
And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin…
How then should I begin to spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways?
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

The military service drafted a new policy that classifies them as “potentially divisive.”

Me to me: "You are a grown-ass adult. You can do this. You'll be okay"

*proceeds to nearly SOB as I hugged my old, no-longer-squishy squishmallow that has helped me sleep every night since I got him three years ago and took him to the trash can*

Is this Toy Story's fault? I think it's their fault

I (19F, 25F, 23F, ???F) accidentally killed my mother (5000F). My husband (25M) says it wasn’t my fault but now I have the overwhelming urge to put another guy inside this knife I got from a bunch of murderous spies. WIBTA if I don’t tell him about it?
My (25M) father (51M) is mad at me because I murdered his ex-best friend (49M) in a secluded hallway in our mountain fortress and hid the body. I only did it because he repeatedly took advantage of my father’s trust and tried to kill him on multiple occasions. AITA?
My (22M) therapy patient (35M) won’t listen to my suggestions, any advice?

Edit: Yes I did once kill him, but his soul is mostly reattached to his body and we were both just keeping our oaths at the time.

I read the article so you don't have to.

From one writer and Swift fan to another, I get that subjectivity is the name of the game with music, but genuinely if you assert that "Bad Blood" stuck more in the cultural zeitgeist than "Blank Space", you probably don't know enough to be writing this
“The Life of a Showgirl” is the sound of an overworked entertainer reaching the mountaintop to find something worse than disappointment: burnout. Spencer Kornhaber on Taylor Swift’s latest album:
Taylor Swift’s Burnout Era
The singer has everything she ever wanted—her new album suggests that it’s all sort of a drag.

Went looking for this to save because I was applying for jobs last night and after an hour of scrolling through websites and only applying to three jobs total I cried myself to sleep, all I could see was the corporate liturgy of "required qualifications" and feel like I had nothing of use at all
There was a grad school scholarship I was not remotely qualified for & I decided to apply.

In earlier years, I’d avoid hard classes because I needed to maintain my perfect GPA. I didn’t apply to things I wasn’t qualified to apply for because failing was so brutal I couldn’t.

I wouldn’t even try.

Everyone: “France just destabilized its own government!”

Long 19th-Century historians: *long-suffering sigh as they set the “days since” chalkboard back to 0*

This is what I imagine Luthadel looks like in Mistborn with all its keeps surrounded by slums. Then you’ve got Kredik Shaw looking like this all over again by itself
...absolutely incredible. Here's what Medieval Bologna would have looked like when all its towers were intact. Florence didn't have so many but did have dozens, so the richest part of the city center would have looked much like this. Much to the despair of the city fire brigade! 11/?

I’ve just read this entire thread on Laura Loomer’s deposition against Bill Maher and I continue to have absolutely zero idea what the lawsuit is actually about. Legal procedure at its finest and I feel so sorry for the poor court reporter
Between breaks in the Newsom v. Trump trial I’ve been reading Laura Loomer’s deposition in her suit against Bill Maher and hoo boy it’s a doozy

Finland farmers are trying to live in the Siofra River Well apparently
Finland farmers have been spraying their deer with reflective paint in order to reduce road accidents.
Now glowing antlers light up the dark roads like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Some say it’s genius, others say it’s just plain weird but it’s definitely hard to ignore.

First time seeing Frozen, when Hans refuses to kiss Anna this little girl three rows in front of my family screamed “You STUPID JERK”
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!

The replies here are so funny because they’re all like “oh SKYDADDY?!?! You talked to SKYDADDY?!?!” and I don’t know what to tell you but a lot of people from a lot of different faiths actually do pray about stuff to think about it particularly this old ass Sunday School teacher from North Carolina
I have thought on it and prayed about it, and I have decided: I am running to be the next U.S. Senator from North Carolina.

I don’t know if NPR has one person doing their movie reviews or several, but the person who wrote this one is really the only reason I’ll ever need for donating to NPR.

Well, them and @petersagal.bsky.social but that goes without saying

My sister apologized for money being tight and only being able to give me a Dutch dough hook/whisk for Christmas? But you know what? That thing has become a mainstay when I need to mix by hand, it’s incredible, 10/10 Christmas gift
What's one small purchase that improved your quality of life? I bought a spatter guard for my frying pan.
