Might as well introduce myself:

I'm an English and history teacher (favourite subject: the short 20th century) who likes big books but often doesn't finish them. I'm obsessed with music lists, and especially the music from 1977 and 2000. I wish I had more time to watch movies.
Today's music in the car.

One of the most miserable things about living in this era is having to watch the stupidest & most arrogant people in the world have to relearn The Why of literally everything good that we collectively do the hard way.

The answer is always ‘Because a bunch of people died, fuckwit.’

look there are a lot of takes to be made and had but at the end of the day, everyone on their side is lame, and those lame-os know it and have big feelings about it. there's no fasc bad bunny. all they get is the barely animated corpse of kid rock.

It’s my birthday and I have one wish: understand this critical distinction.

Protests matter. They shape memory. But they do not deliver relief within the timeframe we need.

That comes from a concurrent form of protest:
***sustained nationwide economic non-participation***

A 🎂 thread.

kind of funny that an olympian said they are here to represent "compassion, respect, and love for others" and some people automatically knew that was a statement against them

the magic of the Muppets is that there are two fourth walls. they constantly break the one that reminds the audience they are performers. they NEVER break the one that reminds the audience they are puppets. this dynamic is the key to their entire comedy style
MY KIDS: so why are there muppets in the AUDIENCE

ME: THE CONCEIT!! IS THAT THEY'RE PUTTING ON A VARIETY SHOW!!! IN A WORLD WHERE MUPPET AND HUMAN COEXIST!!! YOU ARE WATCHING A DOCUMENTARY!! FILMED!! IN REAL TIME!!!
