A rollicking listen. Quite a bonus! And definitely one to listen to a few times... then shared snd discussed .

A journey from Eve to
Steven Jobs with many stops in between.

A cornucopia of delights. Grab an apple, take a bite and settle down for a lovely episode.
What was meant to be a short, fun, bonus little episode, ended up - yes, short and fun - but also one of the most interesting topics, deepest dives, and interconnected mazes I have navigated.

One of my favourite episodes so far, I think.

I don’t have much time for podcasts and so I’m late to this, but @alexpodyssey.bsky.social is marvellous. Each ep is a Greek myth told well, historical roots / cultural refs clearly explained, and a link to life now. About to start ep3 (Midas) and expect a certain NY property developer will feature.

This is such brilliant archaeology. There's a bit of a persistent story that Britain was somehow culturally separate from europe in the Roman empire when it was so intertwined and connected by people and goods travelling.

This is where I learnt all the classic Greek legends that I’m now re-learning (and getting a much better understanding of) via @alexpodyssey.bsky.social
Ulysses 31 (TV, 1981-1982).

Jean Chalopin: "We were told that if we wanted to sell something in France, we needed a cultural alibi. We wanted to do science fiction because it was up to date. I'm not sure how Ulysses got into the discussions anymore, but one thing was said: in Homer's time..."

The thing about listening to @alexpodyssey.bsky.social is that you begin to see parallels between Greek myths and modern life everywhere. I can't listen to the news now without thinking of Cassandra, or Aesop, or Midas, or golden apples. Oh that I had been taught classics this way at school.
