One of the reasons I'm a hermit is that I am hyper-sensitive to the emotional states of the other humans around me. It can be paralysing. Lately, it feels like I'm drowning under waves of collective grief. Let's carry this heavy weight for each other when we can.

Great deep dive. And to sound like a broken record, the sooner the EU starts incentivising open source development the better the world will be for them and everyone else. Gnome, LibreOffice, GIMP, all need a polish and some partner support.
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!

I think part of the reason everyone is so blown away by this Carney speech is it's so long since we heard an actual grown-up articulate serious thoughts about the world. Empty vessels have been making a lot of noise
Mark Carney's speech really is terrific: full text is here and very much worth your time.

Humans, the solution is simple. Stop breeding the red animals into existence; stop taking the blue animals out of the ocean; feeding humans plant-based needs 30% of current farmland; give 70% of current farmland back to nature; have fewer babies.
Or continue your destruction of all life on Earth.
Humans still can’t protect rainforests. Out of control
