Wonderful to be at the opening of the Old Town House which had been closed due to an electrical blaze 10 years ago. Loved this self-portrait by Catharina van Hemessen, in which she represents herself, aged twenty in the act of painting (one of the earliest such portraits by a woman artist).

Annual Open Book Festival . Some really important discussions taking place. And so delighted to see my friend and graffiti artist Mak1one promoting visual art and literacy. The discussion on Gaza and responses from the outside a glimmer of hope (using Soith Africa as an example).

Fecund is a mixed media show of works created by Jann Cheifitz & Josie Grindrod. The show explores cycles of fecundity & fertility, fallow times & death, & the layered meanings of abundance. The exhibition looks at the fertile ground between the body, the garden & imagination. Love this. Everard Read.
