We need these updated educational posts from our PH units in @govnb.bsky.social and stop focusing on ONLY vaccines and hand washing, which is sooooo 2020.
#YouDon'tBreathThroughYourHands
Respiratory virus season is here, but there are steps you can take to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, flu, RSV, and more! Masks, vaccines, good handwashing, and maintaining clean indoor air can help keep you safe and protect your short-term and long-term health.

💕 @govnb.bsky.social where are we on the clean air progress? #nbpoli
Today on Volts: for years, I've wanted to do a podcast on indoor air quality, and I finally found the perfect guest! Dr. Lagoudas & I discuss indoor air pollutants, the policies and technologies that can control them, and the growing need to frame indoor air quality as a basic human right.
What's the deal with indoor air quality?
From CO2 monitors to better building codes, Dr. Georgia Lagoudas outlines how to clean up the spaces where we spend 90% of our lives.

👋 @ipaccanada.bsky.social This is really important for a group that claims they are: “committed to public wellness and safety” and they “advocate for best practices in infection prevention and control in all settings” (from IPAC’s website).
On Thurs 20th, Lady Hallett publishes her module 2 report.

We wait with interest to see how it covers the deception wrought upon HCWs that: a) Covid is droplet/fomite, but not airborne b) Flimsy Fluid Resistant Surgical Masks are 'PPE' and will keep you safe.

Can our govt please provide proper respirators to their employees!! This will help protect the public as we head into a bad respiratory virus winter @susanholtnb.bsky.social
Good news: the @canadastrong.bsky.social CanadaMasq Q100 respirator is really popular at my hospital. Bad news: my family is paying for them and making them freely available to workers. Our governments should be buying Canadian-made PPE!!

The hospital network I work for got rid of continuous masking in the spring of 2023 and clearly has no plan to reinstate any sort of mandate, let alone upgrade to respiratory protection. They’ve never acknowledged aerosol transmission or the need for engineered clean air. This ⬇️ is a choice.
Red bars almost always > 30% and sometimes > 40% represent the % of confirmed COVID hospitalizations that are health-care associated, AKA nosocomial infection, acquired while staying in a healthcare facility. This is from 70 hospitals around Canada. See ( health-infobase.canada.ca/cnisp/viral-... ).

bogoch: “…i think it's pretty safe to say that the vast majority of transmission falls toward the droplet end of the spectrum."

it was literally the opposite of “pretty safe to say”.

infuriating.
When we finally get rid of the dead weight and bring in competent leadership and structures that are fit for purpose, public health and infection control of the 2020s will be chiefly remembered for never having missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
A reminder to reporters: be thoughtful about the voices you trust, and the conflicts of interest they hold.

You can't rely on the judgment or motives of someone who participated in a very big mistake that killed a lot of people to tell you how bad the consequences are later.

Right now is a great time to take precautions. Get your vaccines, get your respirators out and use them, or skip that big indoor gathering. Open the windows, spend time outdoors when possible. And fight for clean air. @govnb.bsky.social knows we need clean indoor air.

Take a bow.

You did it.

You've let #measles come back. Andrew Wakefield must be so proud.

You refused to accept #CleanAir recommendations from experts (and non-experts) from outside your insular little community.
It's official: Canada has lost its measles elimination status because of an outbreak that has persisted for more than 12 months. Country can regain status only if on-going spread is of measles interrupted for more than a year. www.cbc.ca/news/health/... via @cbcnews.ca

A sad day, a win for anti-vaccine ignorance and politicized public health, a new age where children, families, and communities will face additional health risks for no good reason other than the comfort of joining others with similar fact-less beliefs.

This morning I had a mammogram at a screening clinic run by @ottawahospital.on.ca, where they have plexiglass barriers up and Purell stations out (and are careful to wipe surfaces down afterwards) but no one is masking. This is totally indefensible at this point. Covid, Flu, RSV etc are *airborne*
