I’ve been on Xolair for 3 months now. My itchiness has reduced from 24/7 to 2 or 3 days a month. I cannot tell you how much that alone has improved my mental health. Fewer skin reactions too but I’m still too afraid to try “bad” foods because my food reactions are more severe.

My car is literally falling apart. I don’t even know how people find a spot to put a car payment in their budget. There’s just not enough to go around. Are we putting car payments on credit cards? What’s going on here.

Can’t afford to buy a generator but can’t afford not to have one at this point.

I bought a fancy candle holder a few estate sales ago and it’s making this power outage way more fun. Taking morning meds by candle light.

In 2018 I fell and broke my ankle into one billion pieces. I opted not to go under general anesthesia for the repair and got a spinal instead. I was home in my bed 10 hours after gracing the hospital doors. Big fan of awake foot and ankle surgery.

Turns out the new normal is just being told not to go to the er and being made to feel bad when you get there and take up a seat even though you have no other options because the province can’t provide you with a dr or your town with a walk in. Sure glad we rushed back to this.

Ps favourite plane is coming in today. Where’s the best spot to get a view of the runways at #yfc ? I’ve got a boy who’s desperate to see a 737.

I’ve been sick for 3 years and I just got my first abnormal blood result. Low ferritin. Maybe there’s some big iron based mystery to uncover.

It's exasperating to see so many people I know suffering from viruses, with both short and long term symptoms, within the context of knowing what they have been doing (travelling, big social gatherings, voting conservative) and what they have *not* been doing (wearing a mask, ever).

We have some mask distro news.

As of Jan 1 2026 we will no longer be using the request form. Instead, we will be offering pop ups in cities across the province.

We’re busy volunteers and we’re burning out.

If we’ve helped you, please tell @susanholtnb.bsky.social. Masks should be free for all

I need to be folding laundry but there’s just so much of it. Maybe tonight’s the night the laundry fairies come. Better leave it just in case.

I think it’s so fascinating that there are people who think they’re important enough to decide who is and isn’t deserving of housing. Study these people.

You can watch my mental health decline through the last 6 years of my Spotify wrapped. My listening minutes are down to 45k this year. This devastating mix was brought to you by giving up. I would be willing to bet TTPD was entirely the black dog. I do hope it’s so shitty there.

I recently subscribed to IXL to supplement my kids learning. I like how it tracks the objectives from the NB curriculum too. Good for my “omfg am I failing these kids” anxiety. Anyway, I am so grateful I did. Xolair side effects are no joke.

I graduated from Xolair supervision today. 3 months without anaphylaxis and now I’m free to do the injections at home. 🎉

This year I’ve really focused on things that I used to love to do. We’re kind of sort of back.

Been busting my ass all school year to make it to the library weekly for story time. We’ve only missed like 3. Honestly the most physical commitment I’ve made in years.

I am truly so excited for the tree lighting in Oromocto tonight. We are a community big enough to have events independent of Fredericton. Good move.

I am days away from my third Xolair injection. I have seen reduction in many symptoms - mostly inflammation and neurological benefits. I am not so hopelessly angry and drowning in despair anymore. I am not itchy 24/7, just 12/3. I can eat a few more things and drink sparkling water. Baby steps.

Phew. Good thing we ignored illness as a factor for chronic absenteeism and did nothing. It’s only doubled. Whatever should we do now.

“Well there’s no plan to get your kids off the side of the road but don’t worry” does not exactly inspire confidence.

I can see the northern lights with my eyes balls for the first time ever, even in town. Absolutely wild.

I think the Governor General being unable to perform her duties because she’s been hospitalized by a respiratory virus is kind of a big deal actually.
