I think people haven't fully grasped how dominant China is these days. The technological progress they've made (tech, drugs, renewables) makes them impossible to ignore.

I think people haven't fully grasped how dominant China is these days. The technological progress they've made (tech, drugs, renewables) makes them impossible to ignore.

First time getting a telemarketing call from an AI. Recognized it right away (too polite, no foreign accent, 0.5 second delay responding). I was practically giddy.
Was able to prompt-inject it almost immediately and had it telling me children's stories.

Thinking of the depressing news from Switzerland. I've taken part in some fire related death investigations, and it is very sad stuff indeed. Ever since, I've kept a portable ladder and glass breaking hammer in our bedroom. Also CO and fire detectors on each level of the house.

Bluesky has definitively taken the crown for realtime news from X/Twitter, especially watching the Venezuela crisis unfold. The new Discover feed and trending topics are excellent.
