Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

according to @jessyedwards.bsky.social of @hellgatenyc.com Curtis Sliwa just said on stage that he was offered $10 million to drop out of the race

my paternal great grandparents got off a boat in Newark and were americans from the moment they touched american soil. my only objection to that pattern is that i think we should send a plane to pick up anyone who declares themselves an american.

While it's obviously not 1:1, it's funny to see the "Hitler was inspired by America" deal when he a) infinitely more admired the *British* Empire and b) saw America as his ultimate enemy overall - a "half jewish, half negrofied" society that oppressed its indigenous peoples
While the is some inspiration from Manifest Destiny in the Lebensraum idea, it is a fun house pastiche! Most leading Nazis had never left Europe or even Germany, and spoke little to no English! They knew the West through Karl May pulp novels!

In all seriousness, it's because normally, a senior presidential advisor accusing a governor and a Federal judge of treason would be taken as a signal that *something incredibly important and unusual* was happening, but these guys start screaming about sedition when they run out of toilet paper.
Miller’s apparent elevation to shadow president and his seeming intent to declare an end to the constitutional order would, in any other administration, be treated as a executive branch meltdown that was immensely embarrassing for the president and requiring Miller’s immediate removal

I don't think we've ever had a Lieutenant Governor's Debate produce quotes that were 100% certain to go into ads before, have we?
In tonight’s New Jersey Lt. Gov debate, Jack Ciattarelli’s running mate Jim Gannon said - out loud - that new taxes are on the table for NJ residents…EXCEPT FOR MILLIONAIRES!!!

Sorry to lib out, but seeing a major network TV personality look straight into the camera and say "this is authoritarian bullshit and you should be disgusted and be part of making it stop" has me feelin a certain way.

something i think about when people on here start talking about how we'll never be able to rebuild what trump destroyed. i fundamentally don't believe that--because history shows that you can build *a lot* quite quickly when you've got the will for it
the ratio between the rate of institutional creation and destruction is not 10:1.

germany had recovered industrial production to prewar levels within five years of WWII, surpassed its prewar GDP within 10, and was the second-largest economy in the world within 15.

counterpoint: these exact same losers say the exact same thing every time anybody talks back or puts a girl in a video game or whatever so i don't think the liberal urge to performatively flinch at the canned backlash is a useful reflex in 2025
