I'd buy the argument of "time moves on" if they did anything more interesting if "what if everyone since then just died :)"

What really makes this a funny one is the victim isn't one of their typical profiles.

Surburban wine mom with a kid? Probably one of the last targets they were thinking of.

The same city that George Floyd happened in? jfc

In this case it might not be a bad option tbh - the DFL had a lot of annoyed peeps when Walz announced another run, this allows for progression to happen as it allows both Senate and House progression to occur, something MN appreciates having.

I excluded JUBILEE since that was a British/Canadian operation and AVALANCHE nearly repeated the same issues a year later at Salerno (this leads some to debate how much Dieppe really informed Normandy, but that's a different topic altogether)
January 5, 2026 at 6:55 AM
Ironically the US did a decent job of avoiding super hard contested landings themselves initially (WATCHTOWER and TORCH were relatively light if not outright unopposed), before running into the real nasties that would crop up like AVALANCHE and STALEMATE, and ofc the legendary D-Day

combining this with the safehouse replica to train in, they 100% had this planned for months - so surely the xmas announcement was originally meant to coincide with this operation

Who draws more inspiration from Chuck Schumer, Europe or China

The benefit of never testing your military in battle is you never get exposed (as Russia demonstrates)

Huh? What would Maduro want to negotiate his way out for? Was his hand truly that weak?
January 3, 2026 at 10:39 AM
Donald Trump and Jan 3 are just gonna be a thing now I guess.

Maduro 🤝 KC in SB59

No shooters
January 3, 2026 at 10:22 AM
Dude.
January 3, 2026 at 10:18 AM
It's odd, did they know the full schedule of Maduro (*if* they do in fact have him)? This was planned for Xmas apparently, but got kicked back by using stuff on Nigerian ISIS, so either this wasn't a super tiny window or their intel game is locked in.
January 3, 2026 at 9:35 AM
Yeah it went quiet way too quick for this to be intended as a protracted affair - has to have been a capture attempt unless there's more to follow soon.
January 3, 2026 at 9:08 AM
No you see the CIA not only triggered the electricity crisis, it *also* triggered their water crisis!

(Holy fuck how do people think the CIA's remotely good at this game today)
January 3, 2026 at 2:51 AM
That would be the most hilarious way for the CIA to claim they got even over their past screw-ups there

In fairness, the supersonic gun kill *was* pretty cool.

Fundamentally solving the air-to-air part doesn't make North Vietnam's IADS especially weaker, which is the real killer (and thus still the lesson for the US on how to conduct SEAD, paid in blood all the same)
January 1, 2026 at 7:57 AM
"simple" AAA is SUPER unrespected for the work they put in for making North Vietnam's IADS a world beating system - the US really only finally figured out how to beat it on try no. 3 in LINEBACKER 2, when the war's path was more or less decided.
