Just learned from LinkedIn that a Heritage Foundation affiliate is now FOIA-ing (or equivalent) instructors’ syllabi to go snooping for supposed illegal DEI at state universities. It’s hard to describe how far past McCarthyism we’re headed here.

BREAKING:

JD Vance just gave a big speech in which he claimed that "for the first time in a very long time, workers' wages are rising faster than inflation.."

The only problem?

The Trump Labor Dept. reported exactly the opposite just yesterday, showing real wages falling in June. #EconSky

a weird thing happening in journalism lately is that all media guys are in these gross little group chats with nazis and far right billionaires, and everyone knows it, but they just pretend that isn't happening in print

There are only three political positions in America today

1) I like the fascism

2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc)

3) I oppose the fascism

The rest is details

Yes, this is bad for porn.

But porn famously has no clear legal definition. As such:

This is a direct path to censoring anything the GOP wants to censor and can argue is “adult” - info on birth control, queer identity, anything about trans people or gender diversity or safe sex or HIV or drag or

A new era of government censorship has begun.
It started with the silencing of scientific speech, when the admin blocked release of research on bird flu. But MAGA has also cracked down on other wrongthink—on race, geography (!), and of course Trump himself

In the wake of ballot measures that increased abortion access and improved sick leave for workers, a coordinated effort is unfolding across the country to restrict direct democracy — and shift power…

"Purity politics got us here!"

No they fucking didn't. A coordinated billion dollar right wing propaganda campaign combined with mainstream media going all in on anti-trans views is what "got us here."

Also, wanting equal rights is not "purity politics."

The only reason Republicans have a reputation as "fiscal hawks" is that the press refuses to tell the public basic facts about what they do when they are in office.

These people aren’t afraid Mamdani would be a bad mayor. We have a ridiculous, corrupt, incompetent mayor right now and the city is hanging in OK. They’re declaring all-out war because they’re afraid Mamdani (or Lander) might be a good mayor.

Catsimatidis is an all-time right-wing ghoul, but don't let that distract you from the fact that what he's threatening to do here is known as a "capital strike," wherein the ruling class leverages its outsized control over a key market to engineer a political outcome that protects private profits.

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered.

Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again.

Their inaction is deadly.

I've said it many times before and Andrew Cuomo is making me say it again: we don't have a cancellation problem. We have never had a cancellation problem. To the contrary, we have a problem that "disgrace" is a very temporary embarrassment— an brief entr'acte more than an intermission.

There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.
