This is true. Safety-net hospitals in both rural and urban areas are already stretched thin, in part because of the exhaustion and attrition of healthcare workers after COVID. If outpatient Medicaid collapses, the deluge in unreimbursed ER visits and admissions will drown the system.

Tagging onto this theory: Adoption of Zionism among American Jews coincides with their assimilation into whiteness. They gave up old country collectivism and tradition and now their only tie to their faith is support of Israel.
My theory is that they (sort of correctly) regard New York as the actual center of Jewish life, and are horrified by the notion that it might be ambivalent if not hostile to Israeli scolding
